Free Music Notes for James Taylor at ChristmasFree Music Review: new favorite Hit: 5 StarsI have loved James Taylor music since my teens. This Christmas cd is wonderful. The song choices are varied and he only gets better with time.
Free Music Review: Quintessential American Christmas Hit: 5 StarsJames Taylor's is a classic American voice. The ballads, in particular, in this work, are pared down, clean and the lyrics discernable. Mr. Taylor's rendition of Christina Rossetti's 'In The Bleak Midwinter', alone, is worth the price of it. Just Beautiful! Whatever disappointments may exist regarding the production of this CD, we are fortunate to have it.
For those who love Christmas and Ballads, do check out Frank Sinatra's 'Whatever happened to Christmas?', to be found in ' The Frank Sinatra Christmas Collection'. Poignant lyrics, great orchestration and Sinatra at the top of his 'game'. It deserves to be better known.
One more recommendation for Christmas Ballad fans;
'Christmas With Baby face' his; 'I'll Be Home For Christmas', 'You Were There', 'Christmas Song' and
'White Christmas', are classic. This is a great party album, it maintains the sweetness of Christmas and rocks at the same time: a good balance of upbeat and slow and sure to keep most people pleased. Merry Christmas!
Free Music Review: perfect mood for Christmas Hit: 5 StarsThis CD almost immediately became a Christmas favorite. It's hard to find a Christmas CD that walks that fine line between too modern and too traditional. This one did it. Original interpretations. I usually hate "Baby it's cold outside' but this version with Natalie Cole is actually fun. This CD will please both aficionados of Christmas music and fans of James Taylor. he stays true to his "sound."
Free Music Review: A new Christmas Classic Hit: 5 StarsI like James Taylor. There's something about his voice that is so unpretentious, with it-is-what-it-is immediacy. I simply love his new Christmas CD. It's classic, jazz-flavored, but folksy and accessible. It's like sitting around a fireplace with your best friends. Speaking of friends, James brings trumpeter Chris Botti in for a few riffs on Winter Wonderland, and he does a cute Baby It's Cold Outside with Natalie Cole that's getting some airplay.
Taylor does a mean Jingle Bells, having a lot of fun that seems to come across through the speakers. I guarantee that you'll never want to hear anyone else's version after hearing this one. But James hasn't forgotten his roots, and Christmas music was made with his voice in mind. His acoustic guitar sets a very comfortable, season-ready mood on old chestnuts like Have Yourself a Merry Christmas. Speaking of chestnuts, check out The Christmas Song with harmonica man Toots Thielemans backing him up. And Some Children See Him almost makes a believer of me.
Remember the first winter night you tried hot cocoa... and added marshmellows? James Taylor at Christmas goes down that easy... and it feels good all the way.
Free Music Review: WARM Hit: 4 StarsKick back and watch it snow. wife a big fan and I like this one to!!!!!!!!!!
