Free Music Notes for That's Why I'm HereFree Music Review: Perhaps That's Why We Are All Here Hit: 5 Stars
It was almost 15 years ago, that I first heard this 'album' on audio cassette tape, & was completely blown away. Everyone has their favorite JT Audio CDs for different reasons and I repect that. But for me, I had just given birth to a newborn son. As I listened to this album's first track, I picked up my infant son and sang this album to him from beginning to end. Tracks like "That's Why I'm Here" (thinking 'yes, my son, that's why I am here') & "Only One" ('yes, my son, you are my only one'). Even "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence" (brilliantly arranged & produced) helped me to believe that this tiny "creature" might one day turn out to be a testament of truth & courage (on his part, certainly, not mine). Of course, you need not be a parent to buy this Masterpiece CD - just OPEN to the idea of being there for another and willing to give it your all-in-all. Bottomline - this is an Audio CD everyone should own especially if you need a lift, so to speak, out of fear, despair, depression, and surrender. JT shows you how via spectacular music alone. I don't believe it gets any better than this.
Free Music Review: Fine Hit: 5 Stars
This is a fine, enjoyable album that is, regarding the songs, consistently very high quality. Taylor's songwriting on this is mainly relaxed, melodic, and generally comforting; a lot of generally upbeat, genuinely down to earth, and lyrically creative ballads that reflect on [his] life. I have to say I love all the songs on this album except for "Mona" and "Limousine Driver". Unsurprisingly, I fell in love with it on a road trip from San Diego to the Bay Area as a kid and still love it, and I suppose that's the perfect description of what this album is. It doesn't contain any songs as powerful as "Fire and Rain" or of the same touching quality as "Sweet Baby James", but it's a wonderfully crafted and grown up album that is quintessentially James Taylor. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: A Fine Recording Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite albums. I don't know what James Taylor was eating for breakfast, lunch or dinner in 1985, but his "That's Why I'm Here" album is a very good one. My mom and dad bought a tape of this in 1985. We wore [it out]. I even bought the CD in 1998, then got a digitally remastered version of the album two days after Christmas in 2001. But, the digitally remastered version doesn't sound anything like the tape. I still think tapes sound better than CD's even if they are worn out. If you want my honest opinion, JT sounds good on both tape and CD. Luckily I have two sets of headphones that can make James sound like he does on a tape, the way it should be. I have to say James Taylor is a singer/songwriter that will make the history books.
Free Music Review: Hard to be in a bad mood while listening to this one... Hit: 5 Stars
This was the first JT album I ever bought. Actually, I didn't even intend on buying it. I was in a music club and this was the Selection Of The Month. I forgot to send in the card on time and was sent the cassette. Luckily for me I didn't mail it back to the club.
I liked a few songs when I first played it, but the more and more I played it, the more I loved the whole album. There's quite a mix of songs on here.
My favorite tracks are the title cut, Only A Dream In Rio and My Romance. As for the other songs, I can't say anything bad about any of them. This is one of my favorite albums by anyone and listening to it never ceases to make me feel good.
Free Music Review: Just a Great Album Hit: 5 Stars
First of all, James Taylor is an American treasure. This album is magnificent. "Mona" is one of my favorite JT tunes, all about losing a pig. James Taylor could sing about dirt and make it sound awesome, I'm convinced. This is my second favorite JT album after his double disc LIVE album. "That's Why I'm Here," "Only One," and "Only a Song in Rio" stand out on this album as well, but there's not a dud here. Kick back and enjoy!
