I've been a JA fan since first seeing them live in SoCal when they were just starting out.
I hadn't heard of Jane's at the time and I remember wondering the entire night why they weren't much bigger. After finding out that they were new, I figured they would end up making a huge impact on music and while I'm far from an Oracle, I was right.
Since then, I've seen them live five times, planning on number six this summer during their tour with NIN and when I saw they were putting out a box set, I didn't hesitate to head straight for Amazon to pre-order.
Fantastic box set. I own several from myriad bands and by far, this is one of the more creative, yet not over the top. The music selected for this box set is amazing and to be quite honest, just the DVD alone is worth the price of the set and is a must have for any serious Jane's fan.
Of course, I would imagine that they already have this set, but if not, I suggest to EVERYONE, hardcore fan or causual listener, to get this set immediately.
You will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: The Box Set that all other Box Sets must live up to

The only thing that would make this perfect is another live DVD showcasing a full unedited concert. But I certainly have NO complaints here. This is amazing, especially if you can find the 5 disc version which is a great supplement to the live tracks already included. The 5th disc includes an amazing version of "Of Course" and an awesome live version of "Ted Just Admit It".
The audio quality on the demos and live tracks are very clean and definitely worth the price. The included book is everything any fan would love to have...hundreds of pictures, flyers and awesome info about one of musics greatest endeavors to date. The playing cards and mini-bead dolls of each member just ice the cake of this set. What are you waiting for....go get this before its gone. Amazon doesnt tell you there is a very limited amount of these available.

This is exactly right. Perfect old school jane's. It's as if this was released from a time capsule and they never broke up. This makes up for Strays, and especially that wretched Satellite Party garbage. This box set brings back hope that was long gone.
Also: if you are thinking of downloading it, you're really missing out. The packaging is really the prize here, looking like something straight off the cover of Ritual. It's filled with tiny images of all sorts of really obscure fan-stuff - backstage pass from Jane's opening for Love and Rockets, anyone? Most of it is embedded in a collage, so looking for this stuff feels like a treasure hunt.

This is one of the best box sets I've purchased. The packaging was done very well. I bought the box set because I am a big JA fan, but I do own most of these songs from other CD's, so I didn't gain a lot of new music that I didn't have already. There is a live CD that I didn't have that sounds pretty good and there are a few unreleased tracks as well as a couple of redone older tracks. This is a must have for JA fans and for those that are just discovering JA for the first time, this will bring you right up to speed in one shot. 5 stars for the band, music and the packaging. This box set was like a time portal to 1991. If you appreciate the music and culture of Janes Addiction, there is something special for you on this 4-disc multi-media compendium. The highlight for me is the live show CD, a perfect performance filled with impassioned soundbytes from Perry. The demo recordings are raw and show the development of some of their songs - definitely worth a listen. Couple of new songs and live covers to boot. The DVD rounds it all off - spend the weekend with this disc-set and you will be humming your favourite JA tune for weeks after!
