Free Music Review: Just like her wannabe's
Hit: 2 Stars

I have been trying to stick with buying Janet's music hoping she will not only surprise me, as in days of old, but also to remember who she is. The original small voiced female with the dance moves who many of todays young artist try to emulate. I don't hear any gutsy moves in the music like in "Nasty boys", "Alright with me", "That's the way love goes", "You want this" or "What about", to name a few, though there are many. She sounds IMO like all the other little ladies who try to BE Miss Jackson. Too many of the new artists voices and music sound the same. Janet may have a small voice but she had the guts to make big music. Although age has not touched her looks I think, like with many artists, it may have left her with complacency and little desire to push the creative envelope.

Free Music Review: Good CD
Hit: 4 Stars

I really like this CD. Janet has gotten with some good producers and have created a really good CD. The old Janet is back on this one. Well worth the money. Not recommended for children. Some of the lyrics are not appropriate.

Free Music Review: Surprise Hit
Hit: 4 Stars

Janet has hit after hit on this surprise album. I was expecting a few good songs, but I found myself signing along to nearly all of them.

Free Music Review: janet: international sex symbol icon legend
Hit: 5 Stars

I HAVE TO GIVE JANET KUDOS FOR THIS ALBUM. RADIO MAY BE TURNING THEIR BACKS, BUT NOT EVEN RADIO CAN DENY THE CATCHINESS OF THE INFECTIOUS "LUV". I HAVE NOT GONE A DAY WITHOUT PLAYING THIS TRACK IN MY CAR. I GIVE IT A 5. NO WONDER IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE TOP 20 OF URBAN TRACKS AND IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE A VIDEO. JANET YOU BETTA WORK BYTCH! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. HOW RELEVANT IS THAT?! THIS IS MORE OF A PARTY ALBUM, AND I SAY THIS BECAUSE IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN JUST LISTEN TO WHEN YOU'RE IN A CALM MOOD. YOU HAVE TO BE ROLLING WITH YOUR WINDOWS DOWN, WITH A HUMID BREEZE WHIPPING THROUGH YOUR VEHICLE OR GETTING PREPPED TO GO OUT TO THE CLUB. SIMPLY, YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE MOOD. IT IS SO GOOD, THAT I HAVE ALREADY BECOME BORED WITH BOTH COPIES THAT I PURCHASED, IN THAT I'VE PLAYED THEM SOO MUCH AND AM ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT PROJECT. DEFINITELY ONE OF HER BEST ALBUMS, WITH A DEFINING ALBUM COVER, AND WELL-PUT TOGETHER THEME AND GOOD SONG CONSISTENCY. JANET SHOULD BE THE ONE DISCIPLINING RADIO FOR THE CRAP THAT THEY PLAY NOWADAYS. JANET I "LUV" YOU. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING GIRL...CAN'T WAIT FOR THE TOUR.

Free Music Review: Finally!
Hit: 4 Stars

Having been a Janet Jackson fan for some time, I've begun to approach the release of a new cd with a certain amount of apathy. "Damita Jo" had maybe two memorable tracks. "20 y.o.," was only distinguished by the good people who manufacture cd's placing track marks throughout so we the listeners could distinguish when one song ended and another began. So "Discipline" comes along, and the reviews are not great. Ugh! But guess what? It is good. Really good.

The opening is a little creaky with a dated "voice activation" interlude, but then it kicks into high gear with "Feedback," Janet's best single since "All for You." The record moves forward with consistently dance driven tracks like "LUV," and "Rock with U." Despite critics griping about Janet trying to keep pace with the younger singers coming up behind her with racy lyrics (and honestly, some of her "girls out at the club" interludes seem silly for a 42y/o), she delivers a record that's totally contemporary and listenable. Her vocals often sound like a young Diana Ross; and where the sexuality felt really forced on her last two records, here it feels like fun.

Call it control, or discipline -- Janet proves she's still got it.
