Free Music Review: Disciplined! Hit: 5 Stars
I made the mistake of purchasing Janet's CD at the same time as Erykah Badu's new CD. I didn't get to listen to Janet right away, but I am now slowly getting into it. I have mixed reviews since I have always been a fan of Janet's music, especially her slow jams (e.g., Making Love in the Rain on Herb Albert's Keep your Eye on Me Album-'90). I really like Discipline, the single, and the rich bassy distinct sounds, coupled with her sexy lyrics. Janet is great! I really wish that Rock Wit You could've had some music sampled from Michael's Rock Wit You, that would've been really cool. Overall, it is a darn good album and one that should be given a lot of attention and credit for it's production and Janet's overwhelming talent! She never ceases to amaze!
Free Music Review: Consistently Janet ... never disappoints! Hit: 5 Stars
I've seen Janet get slammed for basically everything she has tried to do since the Velvet Rope. Let's be real .... she is the originator of the female pop video vixen era ... she is a quadruple threat and doesn't have to prove anything to anyone in this stage in her career. For her true fans ... who've been there from the beginning and grown up with her music throughout, you can see the evolution .... no it's not Rhythm Nation, but Janet's not a 21-year old ... her music has matured with her (it's a shame that most people can't say the same!) and I love her latest effort.
And for people who have a problem with Discipline, continue listening 'Gimme More' by Britney Spears ..... that is probably more your speed.
Free Music Review: Having Discipline - A Quick Review Hit: 5 Stars
First of all, some of you take yourselves far too seriously when critiquing this album (as if you writing for the NY Times or Rolling Stones). It's just music! Stop over analyzing and relax.
This album to me is classic Janet with a touch of today; modern and refreshing but not totally a carbon copy of the formula all artists are being told they should abide by today to be succesful. It is Janet being Janet. Doesn't it make you wanna dance. Yes. Does it make you wanna groove. Yes. And I'm sure their are other things you may want to do too, so I'm not here to give you my favorites. You'll find your own. I'm sure. Listen yourself and buy the CD. Enjoy it! I did it!
Free Music Review: LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!LOVE IT!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I have to say that I am in love with this album. I think that it was well put together. I love the fact that she worked with a lot of producers on this album. I love Rodney Jerkins. He comes up with the sickest beats ever. The title track is so..sexy, so seductive, a true baby making song for real. I feel naughty just listening to it. My favorites is of course "Feedback", "Luv" makes me appreciate my relationship with my boyfriend. The lyrics at the end : "You crashed into my heart" is so sweetly sung (Is that a word? You know what I mean). "The 1" featuring Missy Elliot is fire. A club banger. Like she said, it's classic Janet with a modern twist. Janet never disappoints me.
