Free Music Notes for Waiting for My Rocket to ComeFree Music Review: WAITED over a year to...... Hit: 4 StarsI had this album for over a year and this definitely had become my default music when I go to sleep and I ended up singing along instead. The lyrics are witty , which reminded me of BNL without the comical music and at the same time very heartwarming biography of Jason. It is like you travelled back with him from Mechanicsville,Va. to San Diego,Ca and watch as his career blossomed. Coupled that with his blog and there you go, he is your best cyberfriend now. The music are not really jewels but it is the words that makes you play this album again and again and again. So for Mrazters, hurray!!!!!
Free Music Review: personally offended Hit: 5 StarsI really like to respect the opinions of others when it comes to music, but reading Jason Mraz-bashing completely disgusts and offends me. I just read the reviews of everyone who rated this album "1 star," and just as I expected, they were written by some very shallow individuals with no ear for talent. Some of the terms I heard in those so-called "reviews" were "shallow lyrics," "annoying voice," "over-synthesized," and "only suitable for girls under 16."
Meanwhile, Mraz's album is the polar opposite of these comments. While the overall production of the songs may not allow Mraz to sound as intense as he does live (which is how I discovered him), no amount of over-production could ruin his uncommonly beautiful, powerful, and malleable voice, or mask his songwriting expertise. Mraz may only be in his early 20's, but he is already showing signs of becoming a music legend.
I am hard-pressed to pick a favorite track, because each song is a different facet of this gem of an album, but I loved "The Remedy" from the beginning, as well as "Sleep All Day," which is one of the best lyrically, and shows off some of Mraz's show-stopping scat abilities. In the autobiographical "Curbside Prophet," Mraz delivers a successful, humorous mishmash of country, rock, and hip-hop describing his lifestyle and his pursuit of his musical aspirations. And the touching ballad "Absolutely Zero" displays his sensitive emotional side punctuated by spectacular vocals.
As for the "no girls under 16" comment...first of all, I'm 17, thank you very much, and I know plenty of adults who love Jason Mraz with as much ardor as I do, including my parents and a bunch of my teachers, not to mention professional music critics who are more mature and vocabulary-savvy than myself.
What I have written is merely a glimpse into the complex phoenomenon that is Jason Mraz. In order to fully appreciate the incredible talents that this young man has to offer, you MUST buy this album, and you ABSOLUTELY must see him live. I don't have a vocabulary large enough to describe Jason Mraz's live performances, but if those one-star idiots could be there, they'd have to live with a certain guilt for the rest of their lives. Although if I were them, I'd be feeling pretty guilty already.
Free Music Review: Catchy Hit: 4 StarsThis is a sweet album full of funny catch phrases. It's just a fun album. If you like this CD, you'll love Joe Sneva from Seattle. I've seen him 4 times and he reminds me a lot of Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. www.joesneva.com check it out!
Free Music Review: Impressive Hit: 5 Starsit isnt very often you listen to an artists first album that is dripping with potential. usually on the first they just try and put some catchy songs on to get mainstream attention and gradually their albums get better. i actually bought this album over 6 months ago and it still frequently occupies the space in my cd player. jason puts a great mix of quirky fun songs with truely deep ones. the lyrics leave you wondering how a man of only in his mid twenties could write a musical masterpeice. he is mostly compared to john mayer and that should be considered an honor. they truely are in the same class.
Free Music Review: Something for everyone!!! Hit: 5 StarsThis cd is the favorite one in my whole collection!! Marz's voice and instrumentals are easy to listen to. A great mix of fun, witty songs and poetic, meaningful songs. Marz has more talent in singing/instrumentals and lyric writting than any pop star in a long time! His music will appeal to ANYONE who has an appreciation for talent!
