Free Music Notes for We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things

Free Music Review: Amazingly eclectic, literate & surprising!
Hit: 5 Stars

I thought of an obscure 80s band called Haircut One Hundred and their album (the only one?) Pelican West when I first listened to WE SING, WE DANCE, WE STEAL THINGS. Jason Mraz's new CD is just plain great. I've been a pop music fan for over fifty years and hear so many influences here - or maybe I just think I do, I don't know. There are hinted-at elements of Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and so many others here, and not a single clinker on the whole CD. Every track shines with something different - the sounds of reggae, literate white-boy rap, folk, Muscle Shoals kinda horns, jazz, gospel choirs ... My gosh! What DOESN'T Jason Mraz listen to and then make his own? It's difficult to pick favorites here, but I'm partial to "I'm Yours", "Lucky" (a steamy yet somehow "old" duet w/ another young favorite of mine, Colby Caillat), "Love for a Child" (trying to figure it all out), and "A Beautiful Mess" (about trying to figure out the "whys" of loving someone). Judas Priest, Jason - how're you ever gonna top this amazing collection?! But please try; I'll look forward to your next efforts. In the meantime, there's plenty here to keep me happy for now. - Tim Bazzett, author of the ReedCityBoy trilogy

Free Music Review: DVD + CD Limited Edition - Simply Fab!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Jason Mraz's 3rd album "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things." is simply fabulous. His music and lyrics are like musical fluid bringing gallons of satifaction and joy to all genres of music lovers.
I rate Jason Mraz as the best thing ever happened to the pop music industry since Sting even though their musical styles are vividly different. Listen or watch him perform ' Butterfly' &' The Dynamo of Volition' and you'll know what I mean. You'll find it so difficult not to like them, sing along to them, or dance to them ! His tour in Hong Kong is completely sold out and his music has instantaneously become the sanctuary to the local music industry which has been struggling to find a 'soul' to justify its own existance.

Jason Mraz has an exremely rare musical talent which takes him to be amongst the top ranking male artists in the past 30 years!! He is totally unpretentious and so is his music. No fancy clothes...just a t-shirt and a pair of worn out jeans ...but it's his music which makes him 'look' so cool. You must treat yourselves with a copy of this limited edition - DVD + CD Jason Mraz Album.

Free Music Review: Jason Mraz is King!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I saw Jason a year and a half ago at Kutztown, and let me just say if you haven't seen him live, try to get to the smallest venue you can find and search this guy out. Homeboy can sing opera like no other. I dig his style and to be honest he is the best singer out there right now, plus he's got groove, and smoothness, and the gift of improv., which is what sets him apart live. Truly amazing live!!!!!! Must seeeeee!!!!!!!!. So anyway, onto his best album he has ever created (no pun meant on any of his old stuff, but he has really come through on this effort). His best song is "Details in the Fabric" just a real nasty track. For some funk I liked "Butterfly". Two love songs right in a row, for you romance killers out there in "I'm yours" and "Lucky" (These songs rule). You can really tell he took some time making this album, which is what all artists should do. Take their time and release good quality music. If he comes back to anywhere around me I am still waiting because the last time I saw him it was the best concert of my life (UP there with the first time I saw radiohead).

Free Music Review: The first great pop album of 2008.
Hit: 5 Stars

There's obviously something about May: it was about this time last year that I first heard Amy Winehouse' "Back to Black"; and it was in May of 2005 that I discovered "Begin to Hope" by Regina Spektor. And now, after nearly five months of wondering when someone was going to release an album that might help make life worth living at this apocolyptically unsettled time, comes Jason Mraz with one of the catchiest, cleverest, most joyful albums I've heard in a very long time.

I almost wish I could find some fault with this album, because really, how many five-star reviews should one album receive? But what can I do? This album makes nary a mis-step. Artistically, this is his "Court and Spark"; and if there were any justice in the universe, it would be his commercial equivalent of "Tapestry". But if Rufus Wainwright is the Joni Mitchell of the late-20s-early-30s set, Jason Mraz is the mythological love child of Michael Franks and Kenny Rankin (with Paul Simon, Al Jarreau and maybe Kanye West as his fairy godfathers). Oh -- and that's a GOOD thing. Thank god for May!

Free Music Review: I sang along, I cried, This Album Stole My Heart!
Hit: 5 Stars

Here are some of my favorites on this album!

I'm yours-an appealing commercial favorite, the lyrics are very sweet and can be sung along to easily.

Lucky-Duet is sung w/ Colbie Caillat, about being in love with your best friend.

Love For a Child-about a child's point of view of their parents divorce. Innocent, touching, could make you cry.

Details In The Fabric-helped me through a tough time. I was on my way to my doctors w/ my son, (who needed an EEG because he had a seizure)when his song came on and the lyrics "hold your own, know your name, go your own be fine" played and helped me get through my day. Duet is w/ James Morrison.

If It Kills Me-I first heard this song on "So You Think You Can Dance" its a wonderful tribute of finding a way of telling your best friend that you're in love with them when they have no idea.

I love that Jason Mraz has a pure voice, his songs always have a good message, and he seems very laid back. :)
