Free Music Notes for Reckless Country SoulFree Music Review: The Devil Toke This One Away Hit: 5 StarsI bought in one year every album what I could find of Jason and a lot of 7" and 12" singles.
But the devil toke this one away... I still can't find it on vinyl(Praxis).
This is the rawest material what Jason and the Scorchers ever done in my eyes. Unfornunatly I've never seen them doing a show. My mother and father were 20 years too late with puttin me on earth haha.
Well.. back to the Reckless Country Soul EP from 1982. Sometimes I've think why they did'nt called this one Reckless Country Soup. Cause this album is damn hot, with some rolllicking punkrock, Willie Nelson/Hank Williams country, 50's rock 'n roll, boogie and lot of more... everything what this EP needs. And that's the magic to get the right flavour!
(this one will take over your soul sometimes, thats why I bought it on CD after all!)
Buy em or look out
Free Music Review: Not really one of their best. Supposedly their first (but released second)! Hit: 3 StarsToo much country here and too many
covers! Did better with Fervor and
Lost and Found. My overall rating
of the Jason and the Scorchers re-
leases:
1) Essential Jason and the Scorchers
2) Thunder and Fire
3) Pocketful of Soul (Jason solo)
4) Still Standing (produced by Tom
Werman of Cheap Trick fame!)
5) Jason '92
6) Lost and Found / Fervor
7) Wildfires and Misfires
8) A Blazing Grace
9) All Over Creation (J. solo)
Anything else (so far) is overkill...
Free Music Review: A great CD but try to find the original Praxis EP on vinyl Hit: 4 StarsThis is a great CD but for some odd reason, they used an alternative version of "Pray For Me Mama (I'm a Gypsy Now)" on this CD release rather than the far superior version originally released on the Praxis 12 incher. On the other hand, you get the CD release of Jason's first 7" EP - so that alone is worth the price of admission. I give it "two thumbs up!" Buy or ...!
Free Music Review: An original nugget of cow punk Hit: 5 StarsI know, it's out of print. But whatever you have to do to get a hold of it -- beg, borrow, steal -- DO IT! Anyone who likes their buzzsaw guitars slamming out honky tonk twang will find a cornerstone to their collection with this one. This li'l EP -- armed with bonus tracks! -- has become the standard by which roots punk is judged in my little corner of the world. Track down your own copy of the alt-country gold stanard. It's right here in Restless Country Soul.
