Free Music Review: Must purchase!
Hit: 5 Stars

Calling all fans of Linkin Park and Jay-Z! Get this CD/DVD combo! The six songs are seamlessly blended to bring two top artists of their genres together. It took four days to get in the studio and bring a live concert set to the fans. This musical combination was originally part of the MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups presents.

"Dirt Off Your Soldier/Lying From You" starts this six-song mix. Next is "Big Pimpin'/Papercut which I think is the best out of the six. "Jigga What/Faint" chimes in for this too short set. "Numb/Encore", "Izzo/In the End" and "Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer" close out the CD.

The DVD is worth the price itself. The behind the scenes of studio recording and redo of vocals by the artists in crystal clear digital quality is awesome, all access professionalism. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park is masterful in mixing the vocals and sound. He looked like a Conductor for a thirty-member harmonic symphony. The cameras give a view to the average music fan of the studio process. No musicians crying, whining or ego mastering this professional session. The very successful musicians know the formula's to stay atop the game. Linkin Park and Jay-Z show their brilliance.

The July 18, 2004 live concert at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood continues with all camera access. The digital footage is history making. How did you get a ticket to this history-making event? The fan clubs of each band sent out surveys on what they thought of this concept. Answer the questions correctly and you where in. Lucky dogs!

I can see some the responses going like this; Are you crazy? Never work! Rock and Rap has already been over done! You are doing this just for the money! Or the tickets recipients; Cool! Both of my favorites! Where can I purchase tickets?

This DVD/CD combo is a "must see" for any music fan! Get Chester a Frappuccino!

Free Music Review: Excellent for what it is.
Hit: 5 Stars

First off, let me just say that 9/10 of the bad reviews given to this album are likely from under-18 high school kids who are stuck in their trendy (even though being untrendy seems to be the trend these days) world in which they hate everything that they don't like because it's their way of establishing their identity within a peer subgroup (i.e. metal heads, punks, etc). For example, the moron who ranted about how we shouldn't listen to Linkin Park because they aren't "real metal". I don't recall anyone saying they bought this album because they were seeking a "real metal album". The truth is, you never purchased the album at all, you just hate it because it's popular. You created a list of bands that ALL SOUND IDENTICAL, with the exception of Metallica (which was somehow at the bottom of your list of great metal bands, because in the metal inner-circle it's also cool to hate Metallica) Now, moving on.

What we have here are to similar but very diverse artists that created a mash up album mixing their more popular singles together and sharing lyrics/beats/music from both to create new sounding tracks. This is not intended to be a collection of new songs. So, for what it is it's fantastic. I am neither a huge fan of Linkin Park or Jay-Z, but when they combined their tracks together they created something that is both catchy in sound, powerful and modern. There isn't a bad track on the album and it's great to listen to. It's about as good as it could possibly get as far as combining the talents of Linkin Park and Jay-Z goes. Therefore I give it 5 stars. If you are a fan of Linkin Park I could see you enjoying it more than a Jay-Z fan would, but even if you enjoy hearing their songs on the radio from time to time, check this album out. It will not disappoint.

Free Music Review: New Type Of Linkin Park
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the new "Mash-Up" album by Linkin Park and Jay-Z, both legendary in each their own way. I have little to say about these two, because most people know about them. However, I must say that I have been a fan of Linkin Park since Hybrid Theory. I have bought every single album of theirs except Live In Texas. I have always known about Jay-Z, but I'm not really into the rap and hiphop stuff. But I always thought that Jay-Z was one of the rappers with style. He's not like 50 Cent and all the other incredibly "bling bling"-artists. He might be a little bling-bling, but at least he does it with style.

So this is their mix. There's not much to say about it. It combines rap and rock perfectly. A mix that I absolutely love. I am a Linkin Park fan. There are some songs that I like less than others, but I don't mind, because I still like them. That is just me.

Some guy at the Linkin Park Forum said that people are divided into to groups: Those who love it and those who hate it. I have to disagree though. Some people will be disappointed, but still like it. It's like another Re-Animation. There, people were disappointed too, but some of the songs were alright and likeable.

I know some Linkin Park fans will become disappointed. There's no doubt in my mind. But this group of disappointed fans will probably learn to cope with this album just like they did with Re-Animation. I only have to repeat one more thing: I love it and it didn't disappoint me. Now, all we want is another Linkin Park album. And since the success of Meteora I bet they'll do a another in the near future.

Hit: 5 Stars

Jay-Z and Linkin Park both are the best at what they do. Jay-Z's Black album & Blueprint are very remerable albums such as Hybrid theory and Meteora. Well they have come together to make an amazing collaberation which random, yet historical at most. I'll be frank with you and tell you that this album is only for people who like Jay Z AND linkin Park. If your a hardcore Linkin Park fan but cant stand rap, this album isnt for you. Or if your a huge Jay-Z fan and think think Linkin Park sucks. But if you enkoy either a little bit, this album is perfect for you. The DVD is a great buy. The performances are almost better than the song themselves.

Individual song rating:

Dirt off your shoulder/ Lying from you (10/10)- Best part is when jay come in with the Dirt off ya shoulder lyrics and kicks it into full throttle.

Big Pimpin (9/10)- I actually laughed the first time i heard it because it weird hearing the papercut chorus over Big pimpin.

Jigga What/ Faint (10/10)- One of my favorites. I like Jay's fast paced rap in the verses. Great Collab on this one.

Numb/ Encore (10/10)- Perfectly put together, They are in perfect harmony. Another one of my faves.

IZZO/ In the END (10/10)- Another funny one to hear. I thought they shouldve went with the in the end chorus, but it still came out nice.

Points of Authority/ 99 problems/ One step closer (10/10)- Amzing song! All I have to say......

Free Music Review: Great Idea + Great Artists = Original & Unique Album
Hit: 5 Stars

The first thing that I must say is WOW! They picked two of the most influential musical artists of their genres and "mashed" them together. I think that Jay-Z's Black Album: Acapella Version was the inspiration for "mashing" artists together. For those of you who don't know what the Acapella Version is, it is a recording of Jay-Z rapping his lyrics only with no music in the background so that people could add their own beats and create remixes with Jay-Z's lyrics.

The idea to mix two groups of different genres is sheer genius. I'm sure that the idea arose, but no one ever did anything toward incorporating two artists into remixed songs. The result of this combination is excellent. Take a rock, yet hip hip influenced Linkin Park, and mix with one of the all-time greats of rap, the clothing industry, and the soon-to-be president of Island/Def Jam/Rocafella Records, and you have one hell of a combo. I love this cd even though it has only 6 songs, but each one is as good as the next and the one before. Unfortunately, this cd can only be truly and thoroughly enjoyed by those who are fans of both LP & Jay-Z, and speaking as one, I love this cd! I am a long time fan of Jay-Z and LP, so it's perfect for me. I think it's awesome that they include a DVD of the live performance shown on MTV on such short notice (live on TV about 3 weeks ago). I recommend this cd to anyone, but mostly to anyone who loves remixes and collaborations of artists.
