Free Music Notes for Collision Course (with DVD)Free Music Review: How do you listen to LP, but not rap (even old school)?! What a contradication! Hit: 5 Stars
First, I have to address that I don't understand the logic of the people who profess to be a "big Linkin' Park fan" but say "I hate rap (or I don't listen to rap." WHAT?! Have you lost your mind? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. What do you think Mike Shinoda is doing on the Linkin' Park albums? Sure you don't listen to rap, you just happen to listen to it when its far removed from its origins. Which is the scary thing about rap going mainstream (but that's a whole other topic).
This album is simply incredible both in concept and practice. Anyone who enjoys the art of music and holds the idea that music brings people together, will love the fact that Jay and LP (seemingly extreme opposites of each other) are very much in tune and similar to the point of being EXPLOSIVE. The album is short, but the idea and the potential of this happening again is CRAZY! Definitely a good buy for anyone who is open to appreciating the art of music and fusions of different elements. Afterall, if you like LP (who is a fusion band) than you can go a step further and enjoy this.
Free Music Review: great mainstream rock, adventurous hip hop Hit: 5 Stars
Rappers were using guitars and live bands long before Run-DMC did it on their first album in 1983 with "Rock Box," although these days one might think of Kid Rock, Rage Against the Machine, and the like. Those who use albums like this to claim that hip-hop is dead have forgotten their heritage.
Rockers have been using raps in their songs long since before Anthrax's "I'm the Man" release in the mid-80s. What about "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," for starters? Those who use albums like this to claim rock radio's time in the light is over have forgotten the faces of their fathers.
This is simply a fun album by folks from opposite sides of the fence who collaborated on mashups of their songs to make great new mutant tracks--the hybrid theory, indeed. Mutual respect for each other's music and musical strengths, chart dominance, personality, and work ethic, as well as a healthy dose of humour, result in what is a sonically satisfying. hard-rockin', big-pimpin', party disc that is easily one of the best releases of the year.
Free Music Review: stop hatin Hit: 5 Stars
before you guys start saying how much nerve this "kid" might have for righting this and how biased he must be, I'm 14 and i listen to both LP and Jay-Z.
Okay then. Here are some points I just wanted to get across:
1.Collision Course IS NOT a remix album; it's a mash-up.
2.Jay-Z does rap, not hip-hop.
3.Linkin Park is not nu-metal or heavy metal or metal period; their rock/alternative.
4.Both artists are both awesome in their own right
5.In regard to number 3, you can't be a Linkin Park fan and hate rap. What do you think Mike Shinoda is doing?
6.This is just for music critics in general: yeah, you have to listen to the lyrics, but don't judge a song on just soley on them; listen to the meaning
7. And last, dont go bashing a band just because you dont like them and listen to the whole cd before you write a review
Like a lot of people who liked the album, the only complaint that i have was that in my opinion, the cd wasn't long enough.
LP JZ rock!! (no pun intended)
Free Music Review: AWESOME Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great album. i dont know why the lp fans are like "THIS SUCKS" BECAUSE IT DOESN'T. this is one of the best albums i have heard. of course, i also liked reanimation, and i can't understand why people thought that sucked. Dirt off your shoulders/Lying from you is great. the best on this is Izzo/In the end, even though the music is a little weird. i really like numb/encore too. jigga what/faint is a great song too. why people think this sucks is beyond me, but i also like eminem, 50 cent, and other rappers, so that might be why. but this is really al lp album, and not a jz album. true he contributes, but he doesn't play as much of a part. you need to get it, and i really suggest getting it. this is one of the few albums that i actually bought completly, instead of buying tracks of of itunes. i havn't checked out the dvd yet, so don't know how that is, but the music is great. my only warning is that the language is a little foul. GET IT!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: Quite possibly the best mash-up album of this decade... Hit: 5 Stars
This is just awesome, I was a HUGE LP fan until "Minutes to Midnight" came around, but when this came out I thought they were on the TOP of their game! I mean, WOW! All the talent on this CD is PHENOMENAL!
The main reason why I am rating this a PERFECT 5/5 is because of the time it took to do this! I mean, they (Linkin Park and Jay-Z), were given like a 2 week deadline to make a whole CD, DVD, and perform a tour at the same time! COMMITMENT!
Being a musician myself, I admire this album and I am influenced by every aspect, and like I said, it really isn't about the music on this one, it is mainly about the talent and commitment all the crew had...
Now "Minutes to Midnight," well that is a horrible sad story... Let's just say I no longer am a hard core fan... More of a hater of LP now... But that's not relevant to this album!
PERFECT 10 HERE! You are NOT wasting your money!
