This is a mighty fine cd of true jazz classics for kids; actually these songs are for everyone who has a sense of humor and has an ear for classic jazz vocals.
Kids love songs about silly barn animals or simple stories but "The Muffin Man" and "Old McDonald" interpreted by the likes of by Ella Fitzgerald are just a pinnacle listening treat; "Chicken Rhythm" by Slim Gaillard is infectiously adorable; another variety in listening choice is "Doop-Doo-De-Doop (A Doodlin' Song)" by Blossom Dearie and no one of youth or wisdom can go without hearing "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong one of my personal favorite recordings of all time.
No kid young or old will resist moving with the rhythms of these tracks.

this is the best children's cd I own because not only do my kids love it but I love it. . . . real and legendary jazz musicians & vocalists, real authentic recordings from the Verve Vault, this ain't some guy down the street trying to make a buck with bad vocals like most of these.
why not have your kids listen to the best vocalist of last century: Ella Fitgerald??
Bottom line is that this is a super fun CD, the kids love it, and I get to feel good that I'm also turning them on to "america's music" at the same time.
Bravo to Verve - I love the liner notes also where it says these songs were "kid tested" by Verve employees children! way cool .....

My 4 year old daughter absolutely loves this CD, and so do we - another one of those kid's CDs that both parents and kids can genuinely enjoy together. I guess what I like about this CD above and beyond, though, is that the songs are originals - not new "kids versions" of great songs. My daughter gets to hear this great music, by the original musicians, without it being watered down at all for her...and yet it is still music that is completely appropriate for her age. The songs on this CD are incredibly energetic, lively, and fun, and the times dancing and singing to them with my daughter have been among my favorite experiences with her!Free Music Review: Kids love it and it won't drive the parents crazy!

We absolutely love the Jazz for Kids CD and we buy it as a gift for all the kiddie birthday parties. My husband and I love it just as much as my two year old and her baby brother. Favorites include Ella Fitzgerald's jazzy "Old MacDonald Had a Farm", "Yes, We Have No Bananas", which my daughter sings all the time with or without the CD, "Rag Mop," and "The Muffin Man". I agree with the previous reviewer that the only thing I'd like better about it is if it were longer! I played it at a baby shower I hosted and it was a hit with all the guests. We LOVE this cd! My husband and I put it on each day for our 20-month-old. I love that it's actual jazz musicians with an authentic sound- not remakes of songs by one group. My 20-month-old loves "What a Wonderful World" and often requests to listen to it 3 times in a row. "World Song, Mommy!" But I've also heard her try to sing "The Muffin Man." I really can't pick my favorite song since they are all so catchy and really fun to sing along with. I would definitely recommend this CD to any family. I think kids (and adults) of all ages would get a kick out of listening to it!
