Free Music Notes for Equinoxe

Free Music Review: Fellow E. lovers
Hit: 5 Stars

Other suggested titles for those who are atuned to Equinox: Film Music by Mark Isham (very detailed and subtle, haunting and beautiful), Hallucination Engine by Material, 1984 by Anthony Phillips (dated but fun), Blue Man Group (heavy, odd, percussive), Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield (genius, Oldfield's Equinox) and Nouvelle Experience by Cirque du Soleil (track 13: Sanza). For the more adventurous, check out Steve Reich (Music for 18 Musicians), John Adams (Shaker Loops, Hoodoo Zephyr).

Free Music Review: Definitive Synthesizer Music! Dreamy, cheerful ... Nice!
Hit: 5 Stars

Just the right mix of "space" and "time" -- the "parts" lead from dreamland into a pleasant awakening, with some mild toe-tapping rhythm.

If you like "New Age" and synthesizer music, this is one you'll want for the collection. And just like "E" comes before "Y," Equinoxe was making music like this before Yanni!

The album initially came out in '79 or '80 then disappeared. Glad Amazon has it -- can't find it elsewhere!

Free Music Review: Why buy anything else?
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a follower of Jean-Michel Jarre for many years, and even though Jarre has many followers around the world 90% of them will say that Equinoxe is the best Jarre album (possibly the best album ever). All you need to do is read the rest of the reviews and you're convinced. There's no need for me to go into detail, it's already done! One warning though! If you buy this album, the rest of your synth albums will sound like cheap amateur recordings

Free Music Review: The best there is...
Hit: 5 Stars

What to say... it's already been said! Just buy it now, the proof is in the listening. I find part 8 to be the most amazing... haunting and majestic, and it inspired a story-poem once, about a purple mist after a storm on Jupiter, and a strange creature grinding an organ.

Superb! This and "Oxygene" are the musical realizations of a lifetime... also check out "Magnetic Fields" (if you can find it), Rendez-vous, and Ethnicolor.

Free Music Review: Jarre's best album
Hit: 5 Stars

Whereas most people cite Oxygene as Jarre's best or best-known album that transformed electronic music, Equinoxe is the TRUE masterpiece. It has a distinctly ambient, etheral, watery quality to it.

Parts 6 and 7 are forerunners of modern trance music whereas parts 1, 2, and 3 are extremely ambient and gooey. Parts 4 and 5 are the best known and typical Jarre anthems. If you buy one Jarre album it should be this! Sound quality is also top notch.
