Free Music Notes for OxygeneFree Music Review: Ever wonder what 70's techno sounded like? Wonder no more. Hit: 5 Stars
This is a very excellent album. Mere words alone cannot say how say how good this album is, this is one of those extremely rare albums that always sounds good regaurdless how many times you listen to it (oter examples include Licenced to Ill-Beastie Boys, The Joshua Tree-U2, Vegas-Crystal Method, & Future Shock-Herbie Hancock) the best track by far is Oxygene V, the best thing this album is for is relaxation. In review, on a scale of Buy it, Listen to it, or Skip It, this album gets a well deserved Buy It.
Free Music Review: A long-lost friend Hit: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this when I was a kid, many moons ago. It still does it for me.
It was composed when the complex synth systems were emerging. What makes this work unique is not that it was one of the first, but that it is a lovely arrangement that offers an exploration of the medium. There are layered levels of musical complexity that when combined somehow do not overwhealm. I recommend you take the time in a quiet room with headphones and LISTEN. There is a lot to be found in the stereo mix.
Enjoy!
Free Music Review: A must for the "space music" enthusiast. Hit: 5 Stars
An excellent CD. Jarre's command of the electronics provides as a propellant for the imagination. The melodies he manages to weave coming through the speakers of a stereophonic system makes it no less than a moving experience for those into space music. I first listened to many of his pieces as part of planeterium and laserium shows. The addition of his music to the shows definitely gave the impression of travel into the unkown of the universe. I highly recommend Oxygene to any collector of space music.
Free Music Review: A defining moment in musical history Hit: 5 Stars
Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene album played a defining role in evolving the course of synthesised music during the mid 1970's into the synthesiser driven 1980's. Oxygene played a pivotal role in defining electronic music. Okay, so Kraftwerk had previously done it and Tangerine Dream, but where Jarre succeeded and they failed was in blending the music into a melody, rather than just a 'robotic' sound. Oxygene is a wonderful chillout journey from start to finish - a timeless masterpiece.
Free Music Review: From the Godfather of Techno... Hit: 5 Stars
I had wanted this CD for a long time after hearing Oxygene IV on the "Pure Moods" compilation. The experience of this music is wonderful and I loved it even though Oxy IV is not representative of the work as a whole. The music was so relaxing that the first time I played it, the 40 minutes seemed to go by just like that, so I played it through again. Oxygene V is also worth a special mention. Looking forward to listening to "Equinoxe" next.
