Free Music Notes for Performing This Week...Live At Ronnie ScottsFree Music Review: A Must Have For Beck Fans Hit: 5 Stars
I don't have the time to break this thing down track by track, but suffice it to say, GET THIS! It's not without a few missed notes by Beck and Tal, but the spontaneity(sp?)is wonderful. The rich production and "in your face" sound has me pleased. Some old tunes, some newer ones, and a couple covers. I only wish they would have done "Stand On It", but you can't have it all. For a thrill, check out the you tube videos of these perfomances to actually see the man work his magic, and a great backing band. Or do like me and get the dvd. Folks, Jeff IS the most interesting rock guitarist and has been forever, but he's getting up there in age.(you wouldn't be able to tell here, though) Someday he may hang it up for good. Buy this and the dvd now.
Free Music Review: Genuinely great guitar! Hit: 5 Stars
Jeff Beck: Iconic guitar player. This album takes the Beck legacy to a new level. As a live album, the production is excellent, but its Beck's 'live' playing that is so fantastic. How many rock/blues players would take on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and make it work? Really different, unigue, and shows genuine artistry. It's the "Day In the Life" cut that is a total stand-out. Superb playing, great arrangement, excellent side-players and genuinely creative. A few Beck classics aided by modern electronics finish out the extensive set. While other excellent players seem to doing more of the same year-after-year, Beck is blazing a new trail with this album and expanding his art. This is Jeff Beck at his best.

saw jeff beck the first time in philly in 1975,mahavishnu orchestra opened up for him.i didnt know he had a new album out,the last i had heard was "beck, bogert and appice",blow by blow hadnt been released yet.so i went on a spur of the moment thing.well he blew me away, starting with "you know what i mean".saw him many times in the 70's with jan hammer.the guy just keeps getting better,or should i say he does not get lazy.this cd is a great example of one his shows.i cant believe it took this long for him to get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.two guys who played bass behind him are in already, jimmy page and ronnie wood.have tickets to see him again in philly in april.i know i will not be dissapionted
Free Music Review: Jeff Beck is still the Master Hit: 5 Stars
Having been a huge fan for many years, I'm still blown away by the touch, technique, taste, and passion Jeff Beck still brings with every performance. He has said that every show is different and this one is stunning. Covering songs from throughout his career, he infuses all these snippets from his many styles, from Blues to Rock, Jazz, Reggae, and symphonic anthems that no one can emulate. Moving from one tune to the next quickly with no fat or excess,he and his excellent band leave you slack-jawed and wanting more. If there is a more inspiring guitarist out there, I haven't heard him or her. Beck makes you feel like you did when you first heard lead guitar. Encore!
Free Music Review: Jeff Beck live at Ronnie Scotts Hit: 5 Stars
This is Jeff Becks live recording of his one week stand at Ronnie Scotts intimate jazz club in London. No matter how many superlatives I could come up,it would not be high enough praise for Jeff and this record. This is the same band Jeff put together for the Crossroads concerts in 2007. The band is very well rehearsed and gives Jeff the freedom to explore all possibilities in his songs. To put it bluntly, what Jeff does with the guitar should not be possible. Jeff Beck is the greatest electric guitarist who has ever lived and this record proves that statement. I can hardly wait for the companion DVD to be released in March 2009.
