Free Music Notes for Performing This Week...Live At Ronnie ScottsFree Music Review: A gift to the world Hit: 5 Stars
Since buying "Live at Ronnie Scott's" it's been on high rotation both in my home and in my car. In, fact, I think I've found a way to drive my wife out of the house! It's live, it's not perfect, but the band plays with passion and feeling. At first, I thought Vinnie's drumming was intrusive, but the more I listen the less it bothers me. The sound reproduction on this CD is great - crisp!
Jeff Beck's playing always sounded so mature, even as a younger man. Now, well - it's like finely burnished mahogany. I have to sign up to get the DVD now. Don't forget the little Aussie bass player, too. This is a classic.
Free Music Review: Great Listen Hit: 5 Stars
I just started listening to Jeff Beck about a year ago. As with all musicians, there is some to like and some to not like, but his playing style is a bit unique which drives a uniqueness in his sound. In other words you kind of know it's him when you hear it and nobody else plays it the way he does. If you've been listening to him for a while, this may be more of the same, but with a guy this talented more is always better than less. If you're starting with this one, then you can't go wrong. After listening to the CD, I had to pick up the DVD as well.
Free Music Review: If you like Beck you'll want this Hit: 5 Stars
Here's a guy who just keeps getting better and better. This is apparently Jeff's first post-Epic records release. There goes, probably, Epic's finest and most respected artist. It features Vinnie Colaiuta, one of the finest drummers out there, along with two high tech non-household name players on keys and bass, who are in the same league.
Surprisingly there is no info on the dates of recording (sometime in 2007)
and no pictures of the other players, which is about the only fault I can find with this.
Free Music Review: So Good Hit: 5 Stars
This album is sooo much fun. One of the best live rock/jazz performances available!! Treat your ears...play it loud. Vinnie Colaiuta-Drums, Jason Rebello-keyboards, and Tal Wilkenfeld-Bass are the perfect complement. A great selection of songs including many favorites like "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" by Stevie Wonder and "Led Boots" by Maxwell Middleton...and a surprise cover of "A Day In The Life" by Lennon/McCartney. If you're already a fan, you'll love this. If you aren't one yet, listen twice, you may become one.
Free Music Review: Play this at my funeral. . . Hit: 5 Stars
This is the music I want played at my funeral. Jeff Beck is a mature Zen master musician in full control of his talent and his instrument on this CD, with the good fortune to be perfectly supported by a multi-generational threesome with prodigious talents of their own. A performance that transcends genres, if this isn't worth five Amazon stars than nothing is. If you purchase the DVD, pay attention to the reactions of the audience. Most of them realized they were witnessing something unique and historic.
