Free Music Review: classic hard rock from the 60's
Hit: 5 Stars

Forget Rod Stewart's solo pop hits. Listen to him here with the great Jeff Beck. Jeff Beck heads this talented group with Rod on vocals of course, Ron Wood on bass, and Mick Waller on drums. Turn up the volume and enjoy. Hard blues rock will turn out in the "Shapes of Things", the great "Morning Dew, and "I Ain't Superstitious. These are just a few of the great gems on this album. The whole album is a classic that any Led Zep fan would appreciate. This is how rock really sounds when played by a group of talented musicians. Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Truth... is this album is brilliant!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a brilliant album!

What's more my wife hated it... all the better.

Jeff Beck's guitar work is excellent, with the charismatic Ron Wood on bass and Rod Stewart (version 1), vocals, Micky Waller drums.

Sometimes I think Jeff Beck has been a forgotten guitar hero not really receiving the accolades he deserved.

If you enjoy the stuff by the Faces and early Rod Stewart, then you'll like this.

Free Music Review: Damn good stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

like everyone else seems to think so this is great. i had never heard any of jeff's material, only some yardbirds, so, having heard some rod stewart, being a fan of the rolling stones (particularly the 70s era and on, with ron wood) i was curious. throw in the fact that beck is renowned as one of the best guittarist, i went and bought this cd on a whim, and i was thrilled with the results, very similar to zep's music, this could be the foundation for the "shapes of things to come"

Free Music Review: New Yardbirds
Hit: 5 Stars

Yes, the Jeff Beck Group should have been the New Yardbirds, a title snatched from them by Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin. But it's not because they couldn't stay together. They couldn't write. Truth and Beckola are chock full of cover songs. They had guitar vituosity, superior vocals and an incredible band. One of the great live shows in the history of rock. Meanwhile Page and Plant were churning out rockin' blusey originals. They couldn't write and that's why they weren't Led Zeppelin.

Free Music Review: Perhaps his most soulful recording
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of those albums/CD's that you can put on and just sit back and enjoy. No skipping ahead to the "good tracks" as they are all good. I first heard this album back in my childhood as my older sister had this on vinyl. I rediscovered it in the late eighties and even today it does not sound dated. Rod Stewart is in fine form on this as is Beck. Awesome stuff. I disagree with the last review. "Old Man River" works for me just fine. "Ain't Superstious" is perhaps my fav.
