Jeff Buckley glowed with the momentary spirit. His live show was spontaneous and improvisational. I had the privilege of seeing a few of these shows, and each time he played the same songs. But, each time the songs were completely new and fresh. His love of music and of his fans was always apparent in the live setting. Mystery White Boy captures this love perfectly and really gives the listener a sense of what it was like to see Jeff Buckley in concert. His passion is entrancing. The music has a bit of a harder edge than his albums, but it also drops to a delicate whisper on some songs, showing the rollercoaster of emotions that was a Jeff Buckley concert. All of it is completely beautiful and will make you wish it would never end. This is grace.Free Music Review: IT'S NEVER OVER!

When i bought Grace i had it playing in my stereo every night when i went to bed on REPEAT mode so that i would make sure i would wake up hearing Jeff's beautiful voice. I didn't know what to expect when i bought MWB, i knew he had a magnificent stage prescence. This is the closest i can get to ever hearing Jeff play live (with the exception of Sin-e and Live At The Bataclan). The live version of Grace and Last Goodbye are so beautiful and has so much raw energy. I thought the song What Will You Say was very touching and Hallelujah/ I know It's Over was very prophetic, "Mother, i feel the soil falling on my head.." The bonus cd was excellent, his versiojn of Nina Simone's "All That I Ask" is divine.Free Music Review: Another tantalizing glimpse of a true artist in his prime.

I can't believe how many bad reviews there are up here for this album! Absolutely mortifying! The opening track weaves a spell over me ever time I listen to it, the chorus, and especially the last part are so much better than on Grace, it's asounding. I enjoy this entire album, every track, and if you're a jeff buckley fan, and even if you're not, this a beautiful album you should not miss. "Moodswing Whiskey" is an intoxicating song that builds into something greater than you wouuld have thought, the version of Halleleuja on here is simply fantastic, any, anyway, this is the first amazon review I've written, but after seeing all the bad reviews for this album, I just had to say something!Free Music Review: such a pity

I bought "Grace" after his death. I read the bad news in a magazine and got curious. I have to say I didn't turn fan immediately but I more or less rediscovered his music a year ago. Since then I listened to grace almost every day. The song grace is my favourite all time song. This CD is absolutely fantastic. I especially enjoyed listening to the songs I never heard. "Dream brother", "What will you say" and "Grace" are the standouts."Eternal life", Lilac wine" and "the man that got away" are a little dissapointing but the three songs on the bonus-CD are terrific again. Actually this CD is worth 4.5 stars.Free Music Review: Just breathtaking...

The growing cult status of Jeff Buckley is not due to his tragic death. Or his Nick Drake-lonerisms. Its solely due to the music, the voice and the songs. Mystery White Boy is as good an example of Buckley 'live' as can be expected. The wonderful nuances of his often operatic vocals are fully exploited here, particularly on the positively haunting Dream Brother and Mojo Pin. With this release, those of us who were unfortunate enough to never see Jeff play live, will now feel he is more alive than ever. It's an overwhelmingly emotional record, and the closing combination of Cohen's Hallelujah and The Smiths' I Know It's Over is heartbreaking. Buy.
