Free Music Notes for Sketches (For My Sweetheart the Drunk)Free Music Review: incroyable! Hit: 5 Stars
Free Music Review: Beautiful and raw.. Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard "Hallelujah," I immediately rushed out and bought Grace, which played nonstop in my cd player for almost 2 months. One day I was browsing in the local Circuit City and found Sketches, which I had learned early were the unfinished tapes of Jeff's second album work. When I listened the first time, the songs were different than I expected; rawer, cut down, and far less polished and instrumental than Grace. As much as I love Grace, I actually love this cd more, especially the second disc's rougher tracks, such as "Haven't You Heard" and "I Know We Could Be So Happy Baby", which is my favorite Jeff Buckley song. The soulful "Everybody Here Wants You" and the sweet "Morning Theft" are also excellent. This is definitely a most worthwile album to add to a collection. Jeff's death is one of the most tragic events to happen to the music industry, moreso because he was not quite a rock-star and below the surface. If only things could have turned out differently....
Free Music Review: Leaving Us With A Satisfied Heart Hit: 5 Stars
Some of the gig reviews following the release of Jeff Buckley's second CD, GRACE, were to the effect that Buckley was losing his glorious voice, that he was squandering his talent. What a delightful surprise, then, to find in SKETCHES, his posthumous double CD, a voice that is stronger than ever, and some of the sense of humour for which Buckley was known privately (see "Yard of Blonde Girls" and "Your Flesh is So Nice"). Tracks such as "Nightmares by the Sea" and "New Year's Prayer" approach musical genius and need to be played often, and as loud as possible to appreciate their full, mesmerizing flavour. Buckley's music often reaches behind us, draws us near, and knocks loudly on our hearts, leaving us no choice but to open the door. Buckley may have known the benefit of a "Satisfied Mind" when he left us, but one thing's for sure: he also left us with musically satisfied hearts.
Free Music Review: This was post-Grace material Hit: 5 Stars
I'm listening to "Morning Theft" for about the 12th time in a row now. Having fallen in love with "Grace" last year I wasn't sure which album to buy next. Based on the cover I assumed this was full of demos pre-"Grace". This is not. This is POST "GRACE"...and for me...having assumed "Grace" was his latest material once I threw this in and realized what this was...it was as if he had come down from heaven to sing these songs again...the moment I realize the true beauty of a Jeff Buckly song is quite a priceless thing...and it's happened again with "Morning Theft"...I guess just wanted to make sure everybody realized this was POST "Grace" basically because I didn't know that until after I purchased it. And if I did know that I would've bought it sooner. Enjoy.... P.S. Make that 14 times in a row now
Free Music Review: new artistic and creative poetical efforts from the author of Grace Hit: 5 Stars
..sorry if title looks bit messy , but I tried to sum what I think mainly about the album ..
Sketches contains more mature and more experimental tracks then Grace ; Buckley here swims around the new possibilities spreading on his horizon and do it with a hint more geniality then what's showed on Grace ; Sketches is on the creative amusing side of composing music , but mainly same from the soul strings you should well know ...If you find Grace lyrical, creative , mixed pot of rock music with good poetic efforts , you will very probably be enchanted by this double release and will plunge deep into the music it carries ;
the mix and the record is unfinished , maybe remaining still more touching , dense , different , and experimental then what it could gave been , who knows ..
Adviced , and higly adviced if you liked Buckley "Grace"
