Free Music Notes for Sketches (For My Sweetheart the Drunk)

Free Music Review: a brand new skin
Hit: 5 Stars

Any review of Jeff's sketches leaves out the biggest chunk of an invitation to listen: his music comes from under the skin, experiments, travels from feet to heart, curved lips, decided jump, Acapulco cliff-diver corazón, little clown, his heart -we love you Sandra Cisneros. His lyrics are naked and a testament of solidarity to us humans and to us challenged young inventive generation. Being awake, we wonder (with sorrow) where he would have taken his music later on, while we sip the barroque taste of sketches. Being sleep we dream of his new power, his new music, the one he was continuosly looking for and his sweet heart draws in ours.

Free Music Review: This generation's 'SMILE' ...and the evil twin of 'Grace'
Hit: 5 Stars

It is a tragic shame this album was not completed. This shows Buckley's willingness to evolve into a true artist. He finished 'Grace' with class, it was time to move on. Some of the songs on this album would fit perfectly on Radiohead's recent releases, while others could be attached to an almost endless list of random artists. The first disc is a group of studio cuts destined, most likely to never see the light of day(not these versions at least). The second disc is comprised, mostly of home recordings(after Buckley was dissatisfied with direction). This record may just be "sketches", but one day it will get the attention it deserves.

Free Music Review: GREAT DOUBLE DISC
Hit: 5 Stars

I have no idea what the last reviewer is talking about but one thing he did get right is that no band today (not even your favorite) can hold a candle to what Jeff could do. This collection of songs is fantastic, even though they are " sketches" you really cannot tell when listening to most (if not all) the tracks. The last reviewer is probably a 16 year old who knows nothing about rock and roll or music for that matter. The loss of Buckley is one of the biggest losses the music world has ever felt. It is up there with Hendrix or Lennon, Buckley is up there. Believe it. If you don't you simply know nothing about music.

Free Music Review: Beautiful post-humous work by a beautiful human being
Hit: 5 Stars

I found the first listen compelling, especially the demo tracks. Although,I almost considered giving this collection 4 stars instead of 5 because of the morbidness of a few of the songs. But because having had it now for 5 months and positive 1st impressions, I'll give it the full tilt.It challenged what I thought music should be-simply listen to the structure of songs like "Morning Theft" or "I Know We Could Be So Happy...". Probably one of the greatest artists to go unrecognized by the general public, this is a beautiful post-humous collection by and for a beautiful human being.

Free Music Review: Can't Get Enough
Hit: 5 Stars

I can't think of any other artist who made such a large impression with one studio album. This is Jeff's unfinished business, and although I am a big fan, (along with Grace I own several live albums and his live DVD) I avoided this album thinking this an album consisting of semi-songs that the manager of Jeff's estate had to scrape the bottom of the barrell to put together. Luckily, this is not the case. This is an amazing album, running from folk, to rock, to psychedellia. All of it is very interesting to me, and it just makes me miss him even more. Absolutely essential for any Jeff Buckley fan.
