Free Music Notes for Sketches (For My Sweetheart the Drunk)Free Music Review: Here's what this stuff REALLY is... Hit: 5 Stars
Ok. I've read a lot of reviews about this cd set, and a lot of them are not really appropriate. The songs that are piled together on this cd are simply what the band memebers and Buckley's mom found after his death. None of these songs were "ready" to be on any official album by Jeff Buckley. These are unfinished works, and there's really no reason for people to think that these songs are a far cry from Grace. Do your research. This is not mainstream music that is going to grow on people like a couple songs from Grace were. This cd set is for the true fans who "get it".
Free Music Review: the un-cut Hit: 5 Stars
I am probably one of the only teenagers that listen to Jeff Buckley. My dad had bought "Grace" and I was curious. It positively blew me away. I ran to get "Sketches" as soon as it came out. This is another side of the artist you first meet when listening to "Grace". This is a genuis, someone who sings from the soul and not for getting on the national top 40. There is something pure and almost heartbreaking i have never heard anywhere else. My favorite track is "Satisfied Mind." If you want something to touch you, buy this record.
Free Music Review: Haunting and Happy Hit: 5 Stars
Sad songs on here holy crap, i can't even start to explain about these fantastic well thought out songs. As always he does amazing covers too. The Second disc for the most part is drug influenced which is ok because the songs are still good but a lot harder to listen to at first. If he had been alive when he realesed it I don't know which songs or song for that matter he would realese as a single because each one doesn't usually follow the same aranged pop rock thing but don't let that turn you off
If You Buy "Grace" Then Buy "(Sketches For) My Sweetheart The Drunk"
Free Music Review: Raw and beautiful. Hit: 5 Stars
Much is said on the the comparison between "Grace" and "Sketches." They're both stunning. Grace, polished and perfected, stands as a tribute to his sheer mastery of vocal, guitar playing, and song-writing ability. It's the work of a rare, modern virtuoso. Listening to sketches, however, is like exposing your raw nerve endings to an endlessly brutal and beautiful sonic assault. Morning theft and Vancouver are two of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. Listen, and share this music with people you care about.
Free Music Review: Jeff Buckley knew what he was doing. Hit: 5 Stars
This album compares and contrasts with his previous album "Grace." It compares with it by invoking the same sort of romantic nerve of everyone's deep down soul. It contrasts by doing it in a totally new and fresh way. Eliot Smith's album, XO, comes to mind when i listen to this album, but they both stand alone on their own platforms. Listen to "Haven't You Heard" for the most amazing song to ever be recorded. So, if you liked "Grace" expect the same quality, just a in a different way.
