What a great CD and the narration by the late Richard Burton is truly superb! I first hear this Mucial Marterpiece when I was stationed at the Learmonth Solar Observatory from 1979-1982 (Learmonth, Australia) WA. A friend of mine said that I had to listen to it as I am a great fan of the rock group: The Moody Blues! I was simply blown away from what I heard and told everybody about it! Justin Hayward gives it that Moody Blues sound and the story is really great also! This truly is a "must have" for any CD collection! Buy It!Free Music Review: a very nice suprise

I ordered this CD for 2 reasons.1 because its on SACD and 2 because Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy is on it.I cant help but mention that Sony dropped the ball enlightining the music buying public to the amazing sound of the SACD format.Stereo or 5.1.I was afraid this cd would sound dated but that really isnt the case[i was born in 61]i had never heard of this record until now somehow.If you enjoy the Moody Blues and good story telling and a great score then check this out.For me to hear something new from Mr Lynott is priceless.Free Music Review: War Of The Worlds SACD

I have only listened to the SACD layer on this hybrid disc so I can't comment on the redbook CD layer
Wow - the 5.1 mix of this is excellent!! - great use is made of the rear speakers. The mix is slightly different to the 2xCD version that I also own - but its not enough divergence to annoy - it's a different and better listening experience. Its a great album to out on in a dark room and listen to in entirety - the only annoyance is having to change discs - If you have a SACD player this is a must have

This album sounds as fresh as a new production...I had this on vynyl as a child....I feel this album is more detailed than any of the movies of War Of The Worlds.....The list of talent is exellent....This comes form a time when the music matters.....when people played their instruments....and accually sang notes.....todays music(if you can call it that) is now produced by pushing buttons and welll they just dont sing now a days..
The energy from all musicians put forth in this effort is timeless

I had this musical version back in the 70's on cassette tape and would drive around listening to it in my car. It sure brought back memories of those days, only now it is digitally remastered for an even more realistic sound effect. I highly recommend it, even with todays technology this musical is still with the times, that just tells you how far ahead of its time it was. With Richard Burtons great narration, and Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues on alot of the songs you can't loose.
