Free Music Notes for Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds

Free Music Review: Supurb
Hit: 5 Stars

Of the several War of the Worlds versions I've heard, Jeff Wayne's is an enthralling combination of eerie music, voices, and sound effects, with Richard Burton narrating the basic story in a properly ominous voice that raises goosebumps on a listener's arms. Any youngster who overhears it will have to be comforted, and still may have bad dreams. William J. Helmer

Free Music Review: Its great because it tells a story.
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is great, and by great, I mean fantastic. It tells a story, and the music sounds like the Moody blues, and that's never not a bad thing, I say. I don't remember very many of these songs from the soundtrack of the 2005 movie of the same title. However, suffice to say, if that movie had incorporated more of these sounds, it would be better off.

I am trying to replace my 80's cassettes with dvd's. This s a very inexpensive way of doing this. You guys got a ton more titles that=n the local music store chains. Keep up the good work. My older brother purchased this musical on a 2 record album. It sounded great on a record player, but it sounds even better in this format. Thanx again

If you liked "Rock Operas" back in the '70's - you'll like this "oldie but goodie".

The story itself is so familiar, I didn't mind that they cut it to pieces. The bass guitar and other sound effects are errie enough to compete with today's best effects.

I wish Jeff Wayne had made more.

Free Music Review: Good stuff never fades away
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought the 2 LP set of this back when it first came out, after hearing a snippet of it on the radio. Simply put, it stands on its own against ANYTHING written, or recorded since, in any popular/rock music arena. I just found out how popular it has become, which is very cool. I was right 25 years ago........ ;-)
