Free Music Notes for Delta Sleep SystemFree Music Review: Going deeper Hit: 5 Stars
There is a scientific principle called entrainment. If two items are vibrating side by side at different speeds then the item that vibrates at the lower speed will adjust to vibrate at the same frequency as the other object.
Examples of this are swings in a playground that are swinging out of sync and adjust. Also, in a clock store you may notice the pendulum clocks of the same size swinging back and forth in unison.
Research has been done into the brainwaves of people in deep sleep states. Dr T has incorporated these brainwave patterns into his music to entrain your mind to reach the Delta state.
If you were to be subjected to these Delta waves which are embedded in the relaxing sounds, your mind will gradually reattune itself, so you can reach a similar state.
According to the sleeve notes, Delta is the most relaxed state state of deep sleep where dreaming ceases, and the body goes into its slowest metabolic rate, and lowest pulse and temperature. You need to be in this state for about 40 minutes each night so your body can recharge.
Dr Jeffrey Thompson has done extensive research into stress and the power of relaxing music and entrainment and has used that research to create pulses, chord patterns, sounds from nature such as rainfall, and mystical sounds. Sometimes these sounds are electronically changed to accelerate the mental response to get to the Theta state.
If you have problems with insomnia or emotional clearing, I highly recommend EFT (emotional freedom technique) which is a simple and easy acupressure technique which can be done in about two minutes. Imagine easily letting go of phobias, stress, depression, trauma, forgiveness etc. You can download a free manual at emofree.com or buy various books on the subject at Amazon.
I highly recommend another of Dr T's products Awakened Mind system, which I find very good for creativity. You will be so glad to have that product. The Theta Meditation system is also excellent.

I've been doing research on brainwaive entertainment for a couple weeks. now, i'm an english major so the complex scientific brain stuff is a little elusive and i may be wrong about this but i think dr. jeffrey's music can be effective without headphones or even a soundfield that is around you. here is what i've learned and anyone who wants to correct me in EASY TO UNDERSTAND language please do, i would appreciate it. brainwaive entrainment occurs when two oscillating bodies (left and right side of the brain) synchronize and go in harmony. when using headphones each ear is hearing a slightly different frequency. this is the sensation of binaural beats. the brain integrates the two sounds/frequencies into a third sound= the binaural beat. This audio sensation creates the frequency following brainwave known as delta. when binaural beat music is played over a stereo system the two frequencies mix in the air and become a monaural beat. according to research, monaural beats also produce a frequency following response, though binaural and monaural beats are processed differently in the brain. in fact, the amplitude of the frequency following response for monaural beats is higher than that of binaural beats. but, they (researchers and scientists) aren't sure if this affects effectiveness. regardless of understanding these technical aspects the fact remains that any repeating stimulus- be it light, sound, electricity, vibrations- can entrain brainwaves. so there you have it. it seems quite possible that the monaural beats produced by playing dr. thompson's music without headphones may very well help you fall asleep and stay asleep. perhaps you should experiment and see for yourself.

Living in an apartment in town, I like falling asleep to music. It helps me block out external noises like cars going by or the occasional drunken loony coming home at 2 a.m. The first night I used one of the CDs, I was out like a light and didn't wake up until my alarm went off the next morning. I was very impressed.Sometimes in the past I've been so tired that I've fallen asleep right away and the next thing I knew my alarm was going off, and it felt like I'd been cheated of sleep, like I'd just dozed off and it was time to get up. With the Delta Sleep System CDs, I sleep just as soundly as if I were exhausted, but when I wake up I feel that I've indeed been sleeping for 6 or 7 hours. Apparently some perfect balance is struck in my brain waves that equals a good night's sleep. What I've found, however, is that the CDs don't seem as effective if I use them on a nightly basis. I don't achieve that deep, lasting sleep as often. That could be because my body is getting caught up on it's deep sleep quota and I don't get to spend as much of the night in the depths of restful sleep. I find it most satisfying to listen to soothing music the majority of the time, then pull out my Delta Sleep System CDs at least once a week for restorative sleep, or to ensure I'm well-rested for an important meeting. Some people may be able to benefit from the Delta CDs on a nightly basis, but even if you're like me and find them more useful in smaller portions, they're well worth the investment.
Free Music Review: Worked very well for me. The music isn't bad either. Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD because I was sick of staring at the clock at 3:00 when I had to get up at 5:00. When I first recieved it I decided to try it immediately, in the mid-afternoon. All I remember from that first experience is about three minutes of hazy synthesizer music and then.........two hours later waking up. I didn't even mind sleeping with headphones on, which usually bugs me, even with the most peaceful music. Very impressive. That night I slept on the couch (no stereo in my bedroom at the time) and set the cd player to loop over and over all night. I occasionally woke up during the night but was asleep again in five minutes or less, and I had some very vivid dreams as well, which was cool. To avoid using headphones, I bought a portable cd player, a headphone jack splitter from Radio Shack, and two pair of small self-powered speakers. I placed one pair on the window sill above my headboard and the other pair on a table at my feet. This arrangement works very well as it places me inside the stereo soundfield no matter what, which Dr. Thompson recommends. I also bought his other sleep CD "Ambient music for sleep" and I recommend getting them both, but if you're only going to get one, I recommend this one, just because the general quality of the music seems better to me. It's also effective to play on your computer to keep you from being online all night.
Free Music Review: good good good Hit: 5 Stars
i bought the two disc delta sleep set about three weeks ago and have been using it ever since. Let me tell you, it works great. although the included pamphlet claims the same brainwave feed is the same on both cds i definately like the first program better. it's just that the music on the second one is kind of creepy and has a hiss in the background that i don't like. one night i was listening to the second cd and as far as i know i was asleep but somewhere toward the end of the second track this weird, loud and abraisive noise scared me awake. i mean it really scared me too. i ripped off the headphones shaking wondering what was in my head. fortunately that only happened once, maybe cause i only listen to the first cd now ;). anyway, the first cd is awesome. before i bought this cd i couldn't go to sleep before two or three in the morning (grad school and other stress had been keeping me up for late for a while). now that i have this cd i pop it in around midnight and in five minutes i'm asleep. and despite the fact that dr. thompson recommends using headphones or a stereo system that surrounds you i have been putting it into my cd clock radio and it still works for me. there's something about it that just gets in your heads and seriously makes you drift right off. very nice floating feeling. love it.
