Vingt ans déjà que j'avais traversé la manche juste pour trouver cet album qui n'était pas diffusé encore en France, les disciples de Léonard sont tenaces et aiment approfondir l'oeuvre du maître à travers toutes ses interprétation.Pour Jennifer, c'était particulier car, choriste de longue date, sa voix habillait déjà une grande partie de nos chansons préférées. Dans cet album attachant elle essaie de proposer des variantes intéressantes, souvent subtiles, parfois un peu vaines mais rien n'y fait la meilleure interprétation reste celle de "Joan of Arc" en duo avec l'auteur, néanmoins le plaisir de ré-écouter ces titres que les vingt ans supplémentaires n'ont pas ridées justifie largement de s'approprier ce "nouveau" disque...Quand à ceux qui vont le découvrir ; je les envie.

When this album was first released I was two years old. My dad heard me listening to this album and happily reminded me that First We Take Manhattan was a family favorite on road trips. Any of you who are Leonard Cohen fans, either because you were reading his poetry in the 60's, or because you listen to any of the numerous artists that are influenced by Cohen, will appreciate the beautiful coat of honey that Jennifer Warnes gives to Cohen's gravely music. And of course all of you who loved Time of My Life, will enjoy Warnes' talent. Warnes' and Cohen's friendship is obvious through their collaboration and Warnes' confidence to give Cohen's lyrics new breath. The acclaimed musicians and audiophiles that worked on this album make it a worthwhile re-release!Free Music Review: Famous Blue Raincoat Jennifer Warnes

If you liked the original release and you have the equipment to realise the benefit of the remastering then this is a well worth while addition to your collection.
The sound quality over the original is spectacular I could hear things that never existed in the original standard release Jennifers voice and the backing vocals present themselves as if it were a personal performance.
I would like to see the same done to the Hunter album or maybe an SACD 5.1 version of both of them, their is nothing like quality and this album has it in spades and then some.

When I bought the original cassette 20 years ago, I became a fan of Leonard Cohen songs. To hear the CD made me very nostalgic, so I follow it with a movie showing the 2005 Sidney concert celebrating his songs.
I just hopped that the CD will include more extras.
