Free Music Review: Do not pass go -- buy this now!
Hit: 5 Stars

Twenty years ago, this was one of the first CDs that actually had some phase coherency, and could provide a good image on a reference system. I approached the "remastering" with caution, I've been burned too many times by folks that change eq for no reason than they can.

My fears were groundless. There's a clarity here that the earlier release doesn't begin to touch, It's as if yards of cotton have been removed between your speakers & the listener. When you add in the wonderful performances, prepare for some goose bumps. Of the finest kind.

Free Music Review: Worth waiting for

Hard to imagine how the original could be improved upon, but here's the proof. All the new additions are strong - "Night Comes On" and the live version of "Joan of Arc" from, apparently, Night of the Proms in Antwerp in '92 are my favorites. The sound quality throughout, as expected, is amazing. This treasure should be in your collection. And hey - wouldn't a live performance Jennifer Warnes CD be a nice idea? Probably not at the top of her agenda right now but that's real high on my wish list. Wonder if the rest of her NOTP performance was recorded...

Free Music Review: Best of all "Raincoats"
Hit: 5 Stars

I've got 'em all. Original vinyl...original Canadian CD...original US CD...Japanese gold CD. This is the one to have. Detail, space, separation between instruments.

One warning, such as it is. If you have an complete memory of this album, the new detail and space will be disconcerting at first. There is some much new to hear, and different balance, that I can see some long time lovers of this set being disappointed. But that has been true of certain other remasters in the past, so be forewarned.

Free Music Review: And The Heavens Sing....
Hit: 5 Stars

The best word I can think of for this recording is"celestial"..it is a work of angelic beauty and bliss. Additional cuts are well worth purchasing, even if you have the original. Packaging is even high art. "Song of Bernadette" stirs such deep emotion in its' lyrics that a tear comes to my eyes every time I hear it. "Joan of Arc" does the same. The sincerity of Warnes' admiration for Cohen is apparant throughout. One can pray for another collaborative effort between the two.

Free Music Review: A wonderful find
Hit: 5 Stars

Having finally learned how to download MP3's, I started searching all the
old stuff that I loved so well so many years ago. One of the songs I
was looking for was the duet between Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.
While searching for that I ran into this album. I LOVE IT.

It's a little bit weird, very tuneful, featuring a marvelous voice. My
favorites are First We Take Manhattan and Joan of Arc. But almost all
songs are winners.
