Free Music Review: I've Been Permitted To Hear Approximately 38 Minutes Of Heaven

I've been given the opportunity to hear this album about a month in advance. What did I think of it the second "Run Devil Run" began to play? Uh Oh. That's right, I was worried that the beautiful and beautifully infallible Jenny Lewis had failed me. 1:08 seconds into the first song I realized it was merely an intro which, like on most indie albums,is merely filler... I gotcha Jenny.
In any case, the following song,"Big Guns", approaches with a beat that will have you tapping your foot all throughout the song, while Jenny sings in a voice reminiscent of the Patsy Cline days(as she does through the whole album). Now, the following song, "Rise Up With Fists", is the big jaw-dropper on the album. It would be impossible to describe how utterly, heart-wrenchingly beautiful Jenny's voice sounds, but if you're a Rilo Kiley fan then you know what I mean.
Now I can go on and on about the ethereal beauty of this album and of Jenny's voice, I just choose not to. I don't have the time in my life to talk forever on the matter, which I easily could. But I will say this, if you like their song "More Adventurous", this album is definitely one that you should think about picking up. If you're into old school country like that of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, you may find this appealing. For Rilo Kiley fans who've heard this and have found nothing but dissappointment, I guess I can understand how the country undertones might scare you off, but hey, it's Jenny Lewis and she sounds better than ever with the Watson Twins than she ever did with Rilo Kiley(and that is in no way a knock at RK, Rabbit Fur Coat is just that good).
