Free Music Notes for Don't Let GoFree Music Review: Fifty bucks for a used copy? Hit: 5 Stars
Highway robbery. But it for $19.00 (plus s&h) on the Dead's own website, save money, and support the people who make the music. And by the way, it is a great album.
Free Music Review: One of My All Time Favorites Hit: 5 Stars
If I could own only one JGB CD, this would be it. Marvelously tight performances by all involved, beautiful jamming -- a masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Good Jam Hit: 5 Stars
God Jerry could jam and loved the joy of sharing. Some hisses but else the recording is solid live/dead. Yea

Free Music Review: My God....LEAVE DONNA ALONE!!!! Hit: 4 Stars
I can't tell you how SICK I am of the complaints on Donna Jean Godchaux's singing. Doesn't anyone know that the problems she had singing with the Dead and (sometimes) with JGB were because she could never hear herself properly due to the fact that they never had the sound system set up correctly for a back-up singer??? Jerry and Bobby have said it a MILLION times. Plus she is the only member of the band who is a TRAINED back up singer. You can't sing back-up for Elvis and Otis Redding and not be a talented singer. I love Jerry and Bobby, but my God, we have heard them sing out of key and sreech (especially bobby) a million times. But poor Donna... she is ALWAYS the one ragged on ( maybe because she's not "one of the boys"???) even though she is singing the most difficult part--the harmonies!!! I went to several Dead shows in the 70s and people loved her back then--i don't know were this backlash is coming from. I think that she sings beautifully on "Don't Let Go" and actually ADDS something to the good, but not amazing JGB performance. "Sitting Here in Limbo", "After Midnight", "The Way You Do the Things You Do" and "Knocking on Heavins Door" would be very boring without her voice. My advice is that this CD is especially worth buying BECAUSE Donna sings on it. And it also has the presence of Keith Godchaux and his magnificant piano playing. So, please give it a rest, people and....LEAVE DONNA ALONE.
