Some of the negative reviews of this package are way too nitpicky. Garcia's playing shines on every cut and the band's ability to follow their leader shows that they were having fun. OK, maybe Donna's singing can get a little out of hand, but that is minor to say the least. The reviewer wanting more latter JGB need only to refer to the official releases out there. Now, an acoustic Garcia show would be a great release, I saw him in the early eighties, just Garcia and Kahn, but those were dark days for both men so don't hold your breath. Back to the cd at hand, you will do yourself only multiple favors if you pick up this release!Free Music Review: This is tight

Buy this album for "That's What Love Will Make you Do." alone. The 70's version is alot more laid back and really grooves. I prefer it to later renditions. I also love "Mighty High", but Donna does her usual hatchet job on the harmonies. Sorry Donna.Probably the best of the JGB releases yet, Jerry's guitar work is confident and the band is tight. Not as much noodling as what characterized later JGB work-outs.

This album contains some of the most delicate, carefully executed playing these ears have heard from Garcia & co. I've never been a huge fan of Donna Godchaux, but most of the vocal harmonies here are quite nice and, because of the vintage, Jerry's voice is much stronger than on any of the officially released JGB albums. The rendition of Jimmy Cliff's "Sitting In Limbo" is absolutely stunning.Free Music Review: Georgia Dead Head/ JGB fan

Well,,, I thought this was an excellent cd from start to finish.Jerry is so smooth in his playing and Donna doesn't let you forget she is there..Is that good or bad..? Many cd's of the Dead but this is my first JGB cd and, I shall have many more..Free Music Review: It's a Keeper! Let's hope for more.

I am glad to see this edition of the JGB getting a full scale archival release. The sound is together and the performance is wonderful. Lots of tasty playing. I can't wait for the next one.
