Free Music Notes for Rambo: First Blood Part II - Original Film Soundtrack, New Expanded EditionFree Music Review: One of the best Jerry-Goldsmith-Soundtracks Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is really worth the money. The soundrack is very dynamical and action-oriented. It is a valuable enhancement of any soundtrack collection, even if you do not like Rambo or Sylvester Stallone movies. If you do not believe me, hear the movie or record it!
Free Music Review: Making a Great Score Even Better! Hit: 5 StarsThis release of the famous Rambo II score is a great blessing indeed. It took an already amazing score and filled it the missing gaps. This is quite possibly the greatest action adventure score ever produced and this version is the best one to get. What Goldsmith did with the synthesizer is great; what a gnarly, monsterous sound! I've never heard anything like it before or since. Don't hesitate, just order this one up and sit back and enjoy some great action music laden with patriotic fanfare!
Free Music Review: Even "Peace in Our Life" Hit: 5 StarsTremendous soundtrack that I listen to for inspiration - it's a hard-charger. Goldsmith mixes classical instruments with a light touch of electronic music that shows his mastery of the genre.
I must point out: many people consider "Peace in Our Life" dopey or insipid. I don't. Listen to it with Memorial Day or 9/11 in mind, and recognize that in here, we have the rough sentimality that a guy like John Rambo can feel, but not necessarily express. While falling short of "It's a Hard Road," if considered in its proper context, it can wrench a tear from this old serviceman.
Free Music Review: As good as First Blood... Hit: 5 StarsI have been a fan of Rambo since I first saw First Blood. The music in First Blood is great and I was very impressed with how good the music was in Rambo. I think their should have been more music from the first movie, but other that I Goldsmith did a good job.
Free Music Review: This Is Better Than The Original Hit: 5 StarsI am very pleased with this Silva Screen America release of the complete score for "Rambo: First Blood-Part II" because, quite frankly, I think this is one of Jerry Goldsmith best action film scores. I have always loved Goldsmith's oriental flavor in this album because the main title fits the scene for which it was written perfectly. The tender moment of the album is best represented in 'Stories' where Rambo tries to tell a female Vietnamese rebel what he is looking for in life. The action tracks are incredible, especially 'Betrayed', 'Escape From Torture', 'Bowed Down', and 'Pilot Over'; but I'd like to make a special mention to 'The Jump' where Goldsmith makes a remarkable musical description of the scene in which Rambo gets stranded at the plane door while attempting to jump on a parachute. The suspense moments of the album do not slow the pace of the album, especially 'The Cage' and the first half of 'Revenge'. The song 'Peace In Our Life' -as performed by Frank Stallone -is kinda catchy, but it's not quite as emotional as Dan Hill's 'It's A Long Road' from the original Rambo movie. Then there are the extra tracks such as 'River Crash/The Gunboat' and 'Village Raid/Helicopter Flight' that make this one a better album than the original Var?se Sarabande release. This is a very good album, and it showcases what I once again believe it's one of the best action scores by the great Jerry Goldsmith.
