Free Music Notes for Rudy: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: A Great And Touching Job For Goldsmith Hit: 5 StarsAt first I wasn't sure what king of job Jerry Goldsmith would pull off in a movie called "Rudy". I had no idea who Rudy was. When I first listened to it at a listening station in a music store in Miami, I was touched. I fell in love with it that I immediately bought it.
Goldsmith was truly a master. He knew exactly what notes to use to reach our hearts and tell us what Rudy had to go through from being an average guy to a football hero. The theme from Rudy is simply beautiful -indeed one of Goldsmith's best main titles. And the training music -as heard in tracks like 'Tryouts' and 'Take Us Out' -is completely exhilarating.
Jerry Goldsmith was fortunate to work with director David Anspaugh and writer Angelo Pizzo because "Hoosiers" was also one terrific score. "Rudy" is definitely one of the best Goldsmith scores ever. You can't help but feeling exhilarated and touched by such great work.
Free Music Review: Awesome! Hit: 5 StarsThis is a great score to go along with one of the best sports movies ever created. Free Music Review: ................. Hit: 1 Starsusually jerry's scores for movies are priceless,(i.e. the other score for "legend")but rudy is a little bit too unoriginal and the feelings meant to be expressed seem much too"forced" for my taste.it's ok as a weird sort of comedy album,I suppose, but from the main theme I was laughing because it's meant to be such a serious experience-but isn't!I think that only the biggest goldsmith efficianado could find joy in this cd.(.)
Free Music Review: Inspiring! Hit: 5 StarsWhenever you need a little pick-me-up or encouragement, just hit play on this CD! The musical arrangements are inspiring and uplifting on their own, but for anyone who has seen the movie, you cannot help but be reminded of the personal courage and determination of Rudy Ruttiger. A great musical score to a great movie, - you will not be disappointed with your purchase.Be advised that the CD does not include the Notre Dame Fight Song that was featured in the ending credits of the movie.
Free Music Review: A memorable sports score Hit: 5 StarsThis little soundtrack is every bit as inspirational as the story of pint-sized Rudy. The music has become so popular that it's often used in trailers and tv spots. Few movies attribute their success to an uplifting score; some are burdened with sappy melodies and others lack the emotional investment of good music. Composer Jerry Goldsmith manages a happy marriage of both extremes, however. His score effectively becomes part of the film without overtaking it; it does what a good score should and deepens the action and characterizations.Overall, the music is light in tone, never oppressive, which would have been an easy and obvious route for a movie about football. My favorite track is the "Main Title," which introduces the musical theme. It is hopeful, inspirational, and ultimately uplifting. Had I not first seen the movie, I could still gather this much about the film. Other tracks, such as "Waiting," "Tryouts," and "The Final Game" convey the spirited and triumphant atmosphere with a chorus of flutes whistling across strong, brassy undertones. I also liked the touch of nostalgia Goldsmith weaves in, cementing the hope and innocence of the story and era on film and CD.
