I'm sure that most people buying the CD have the opportunity to see this musical. We were fortunate in SF being the first city the show opened in as the second troup leaves Broadway. I encourage anyone who will be able to see the show to buy the Four Season greatest hits and not listen to this CD until after you see it. It includes some of the narrative which takes a little of the surprise and fun out of the show. But if you will not be able to see the show, you can skip the Four Seasons CD and go right to this CD. My girls do not remember the Four Seasons obviously, so their being introduced to the music before seeing the show really increased their enjoyment. We saw it on New Year's Eve and they are still talking about it, although I'm not sure most of the friends in High School get it...Free Music Review: Those Jersey Boys!

I never thought that Jersey Boys would be such a hit on Broadway enough to win Tony Award for Best Musical. Although Broadway has not really brought out anything spectacular but everybody who has seen it live as loved it. If you can't spend money on tickets to see the show, you might as well by the compact disc and just imagine the live performance. The Four Seasons were one of the biggest music groups of the last century. Who would have thought that these four Jersey boys from Belleville, New Jersey also hometown to actor Joe Pesci would become such a huge hit. The show and the compact disc show how it began for them with all the trials and tribulations. If you can't see the show regardless of cost or travel, why not buy the compact disc? Jersey Boys was one of the best shows I've ever seen on Broadway. The music is more from my parents' older siblings time, but they are classics that nearly everyone is familiar with.
Unlike other "jukebox musicals", this one has a fantastic story that ties the Four Seasons hits into a coherent, emotional tale.
After a few preliminary numbers, "the whole world exploded" when the cast plays a succession of "Sherry", "Big Girls" and "Walk Like a Man". I've never seen an audience react to a showstopper like that before.
The CD is fantastic. John Lloyd Young really captures Frankie Valli's sound. If you can't see the show, get this CD. If you do see the show, you will listen to this CD a hundred times to recapture the magic.

If you belong to the 60's generation, this musical will drive you crazy. I haven't seen the show yet so I can just give the opinion about the recording. Actually, this is not an imitation of the Four Seasons: they really seem TO BE the originals. The songs are exciting and even electrifying sometimes. Great hits like "Sherry" "Big Boys Don't Cry", "Can't take my Eyes off You" or the marvelous "Fallen Angel" - which identify a whole generation - are here recreated in a most amazing way.The singing and the musical arrangements are simply great. What else can you say about this musical? That it will soon become a Broadway classic? Be sure about that. Don't hesitate to get it, specially if you are a B'way musical fan. I took my daughters to see the musical last week in NYC. We loved every minute of it! The actors are amazing - their singing is perfect, the dance moves great and to top it off, they are actually playing their own instruments! A very talented group to say the least. They deserve all the wonderful praise they have received for this play, it is really great. We purchased the CD and have also orderd the Four Seasons Anthology. Do yourself a favor and go see it in New York. I look forward to seeing it when they tour and hope the traveling troup will be as good as these four. For the reviewer who said that her husband fell asleep during The Drowsey Chaperone, well we saw that too and we LOVED it, her husband really missed out!
