Free Music Notes for VertigoFree Music Review: Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
I have had the pleaure of listening to Jesse Cook live in Guelph Ontario, and they played a few songs from this CD. I was very very impressed and I still consider it to be the best live performance I have seen. This album is a fusion of many styles and should be listened to without trying to force it into one genre or another. All of the performers on this CD are very talented artists and they mesh perfectly. Very creative use of many instruments including a wooden box. The music is rich and detailed but simple at the same time.Highly recommended
Free Music Review: Wonderful! Very emotional coming from deep within the heart. Hit: 5 Stars
Truly an emotional compilation. Breathing Below Surface seems to impart recent deeply emotional events in the life of Jesse Cook. I have worn out tracks 3 (Cancion Triste), 6 (Breathing Below Surface), and 9 (Vertigo). I've now ordered 3 copies of this CD and give them as gifts to friends who have a sincere appreciation for music -- especially an 'honest' guitar and percussion! The vocals (That's Right! and Fragile) are wonderful! And keep your ears tuned to the CD at the end -- the unlisted track is terrific!
Free Music Review: It may not be for the purist, but I love it. Hit: 5 Stars
O.K. It may not be "Flamenco" in the true sense of the term, but it's the best "new" music I've heard in 20 years. Jesse Cook's style, whatever you care to call it, is fresh and exciting. I turned on a friend who is a jazz and classical guitarist; he was so impressed that he started taking Flamenco lessons. The classical and Flamenco purists may not like Jesse Cook, but I think he'll do more to create awareness of those genres than any of the traditional players.
Free Music Review: Something different and excellent Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a fan of flamenco rythms because of my Spanish origin and I love many performers like Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucia, Strunz & Fara, Ottmar Liebert, and many more but Jesse Cook seemed to me very different from the others., He has a special gift for Spanish guitar. I feel saciated and invigorated listening to his work. Unfortunately I only could get here in my country Vertigo, that is perfect, but I'll try to ask a friend in USA to send me another one. Highly recommended album.
Free Music Review: Great date music - Excellent and fresh acoustic guitar Hit: 5 Stars
I was in the mood for something completely different from my usual musical faire and happened upon Jesse Cook. This isn't his best album, but it's still an excellent album because his sound is different, but at the same time, you're not hearing the same "song" over and over. For example, "Rattle and Burn" has a rather fast tempo to it (as the name suggests) whereas "Avocado" is slightly more subdued. "Red" reminds me a bit of Tito Puente.
