Free Music Review: This CDs gonna make Jessica a superstar!

Management obviously took note for her sophomore effort. This time, big name writers and producers were highered (at a huge cost), and top Columbia/Sony executives hand picked the album tracks. Its not suprising then, that this album is literally packed with potential hits.

It opens with the first single from the album, Irresistible. Whilst the intro may be distinctively RnB, the rest of the song is pure pop, with clear influences from Christina Aguilera and *NSync. This track is looking to be a top 15 hit, and could well establish Jessica above Mandy/Hoku/Samantha, etc. The next track, A Little Bit, is the followup single to Irresistible, so you should start hearing this on radio very soon. It's another uptempo, with an incredibly catchy, fast paced RnB hook (quite different from Irresistible).

Other highlights in terms of fast tracks include 'Whats It Gonna Be', an incredibly bubble-gum Britney inspired pop track, which is very catchy - many people may prefer this to the title track, even. However, perhaps the stand-out uptempo is 'Hot Like Fire', which was originally schedualled to be the first single taken from the album. This is quite RnB (a bit like the singles of Destinys Childs latest album - although the song is distinctively Jessicas own), with a attitude-laden disjointed chorus that you won't be able to get out of your head. Hopefully this will be released as a single too, because it could be very successful. Meanwhile, Forever In Your Eyes is more of a mid-paced pop effort, which sounds like a slowed down version of Christina's 'Genie In A Bottle', only with a guitar. This is another standout. The fast tracks round off with some RnB efforts from Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins. Although not as mediocre as most of his tracks on the Spice Girls album (these do show some potential), they are too generic and unoriginal to standout. The Jerkins team of writers are just getting lazy with these songs, refusing to produce anything fresh. Furthermore, the fact that 'Hot Like Fire' is such an excellent RnB song makes these 2 Jerkins tracks look even more pathetic.

There has been a cut down on the amount of ballads on this album - there are only 4 here. Luckily, most of them are very good. The standout is easily 'For Your Love', the 'I Wanna Love You Forever' of this album, which would make a very good third single. However, it looks as though 'There You Were' is actually going to be the third single, and this is also a very good ballad (a duet with Marc Anthony) which could do well on radio, and would also make a good movie soundtrack! Other slow highlights include the tragic 'When You Told Me You Loved Me', about a dream love which went horribly wrong. Its chilling, but also incredibly catchy.

So that is basically most of the notable tracks covered. There are a few tracks which admittedly aren't that amazing, but I think about 8 of these could be definate singles (and considering how much money was ploughed into this album, expect quite a few releases). Furthermore, Jessica has avoided having too many tracks which sound similar (a mistake which was made on Britney's 3rd album), or having any real fillers which sound like cheap imitations. This could very well be the album which makes Jessica a superstar, trailing only slightly behind Britney/Christina in popularity.
