Free Music Notes for Jesus Christ Superstar (The New Stage Production Soundtrack)Free Music Review: The best got better Hit: 5 Stars
When I saw the original play 30 years ago, it was like seeing and hearing the story of Christ for the 1st time. It started me on my spiritual journey that continues to this day. I got a copy of the movie with Ted Neeley and have watched it many times. When I saw this updated version on PBS, I was astounded; I thought nothing could beat the original, but this version makes it relevant for today's, yesterday's and tomorrow's audience. The voices are so incredibly expressive that you are taken in and transformed. All of the title actors - indeed, ALL of the voices heard - were truly blessed by God to deliver in their roles. Pilot was the most sinister role I've seen; Herod is a complete weasle, the Pharisees so evil, the Apostles so sadly missing the point, but most of all - Judas made me weep with sadness, Mary made me feel the love and confusion she felt, and Jesus his humanity and humaness. That's the best compliment I can give all of them.
Free Music Review: TONY VINCENT! Hit: 5 Stars
i mean i honestly like this show very much! it is an amazing show but i honestly think TONY VINCENT should of played JUDAS in this show instead of simon. TONY stole the show with SIMON ZEALOTES! tony is amazing and him and glenn were so much better together than jerome was with glenn. Steve balsamo is honestly the best JESUS i have ever heard and if they do a studio cast i think it should be JESUS: STEVE BALSAMO and JUDAS: TONY VINCENT because they both are excellent performers. if you want to hear tony sing you should download his songs from this show on some network. but this musical is still superb enough to satisfy then newest listener but if you are a big time fan just add the movie to the collection and get another JCS cd like 96 london cast. my reason for giving it 5 is because i have been waiting for it and i was not dissapointed that much.
Free Music Review: The greatest version ever.... Hit: 5 Stars
I have to admit that I am an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan... and I have to say that this new material of Jesus Christ is a real peace of art. It has the capacity of showing all the strenght that this great musical has.... all the rock magic!! I really found it amusing. It's one of those CD's you wont be able to put down!! And the voices are really good. I love Glenn Carter's Gethsemane: his voice is well elaborated and smooth, and he also has the greatest "phisique du role"... I never saw such a handsome Jesus Christ!! All the singers perform very well. I only have some doubts about Jerome Pradon's Judas: it seems to a be a little overperformed, but he does well anyway. I really hope you enjoy this great CD as much as I did.
Free Music Review: Best version of this famous Musical Hit: 5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD - it was certainly the best version of this well known musical. The Soundtrack did not disappoint as the performers put their heart and souls into this edition. I don't think I have ever heard such meaning and expression put into each song in this musical.
To squeeze the tracks on to one disc several songs were left out.
This is my only criticism - in the 25th Anniversary edition of Jesus Christ Superstar as a soundtrack two discs contain the whole production. Perhaps this could have been done with this important revised edition of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Free Music Review: An aquired taste. Hit: 5 Stars
The first few times I heard this CD I disliked it, but after I had become familiar with it and had seen the DVD I LOVED it. I though Jerome Pradon was going to butcher Judas but once I grew accostomed to him and gave it a little thought, he really is just what I always imagined Judas. So the grating singing is perfect. Glenn Carter's preformence was spectacular. Tony Vincent, ah..., Tony Vincent is so cute and such a wonderful singer, I only wish there where to Judases so Tony could sing his Broadway role and Jerome could still do it to. This is great music. Buy it, and learn to love it.
