I read reviews from people who have given this CD one or two stars. Call it nostalgia, if you will, you can safely ignore their opinions because they are similar to those who claim Star Trek with William Shetner was the best.Judas and Mary rule. Piltate's dream in this album is one of my favorites.
Cons: I wish they included 'Jesus must die' in this album.
Once you enjoy the CD, watch the DVD, you will love it even better. Let's accept it, technology has improved since 1970. This is the latest, best recorded, of all 'Jesus Christ Superstar' albums.

I don't understand why people don't like this. The only reason I can think of is that it is missing some FANTASTIC songs like This Jesus Must Die, Damned for All Time/Blood Money, and Peter's Denial. But this CD is ... if you like the movie this goes to. Judas does tend to screetch pretty badly. But he's portrayed as a good person who makes a bad choice and kills himself over the guilt. Jesus is perfect!! He never screetches, and never goes off-key (well no one in the musical goes off-key) Get this if you like the source of it.Free Music Review: this one is da bomb

This version ROCKS.Best music in theatercal history.Fred Johanson has a great roaring voice.And Jerome Pardon does a great character role as Judas Iscariot.But, i wonder why did they cut off "Damned for all time","Blood money" and "This jesus must die".Other than that, i'd give this 5 stars.A MUST HAVE.Oh yea, Glenn Carter plays great in his character role of Jesus.And Fred B.Owens has a great voice as caiaphas.But Mike Shaeffer sounded dry in some parts.BUT BUY IT, DARN ITFree Music Review: Stunning, beautiful...

This musica; is so wonderful! I think this cast is especially good, but I also like the other movie version as well. Could We Strat Again Please is one of the most beautiful songs ever. I think it's almost better if you play that song again at the end after his death...it means so much. The other songs are wonderful and this musical is inspiring with a very good message...everyone needs to see it and hear the music.Free Music Review: A good CD

I saw the movie last night and I thought it was pretty good. However, I got confused when Mary Magdalen and Peter sing "Could we start again, please". I have the original London recording and it doesn't have that song on there. Did they add that or what? I just found that really confusing. Overall, the CD is a great one and has some songs missing but still worth buying.
