Free Music Notes for Jesus Christ Superstar (The New Stage Production Soundtrack)Free Music Review: Absolutely the best! Hit: 4 Stars
Well...not quite, since "This Jesus Must Die," "Damned For All Time" and "Blood Money" are missing, but if they were there I would say if you can only buy one recording, this should be the one! This recording would be untouchable if it only had those songs gracing it's metallic/holographic plastic surface. However, as those three songs are "must-hears," you'll have to buy the DVD or VHS tape. Glenn Carter has an incredible range (vocally as well as emotionally), and Jerome Pradon brings depth to Judas. Tony Vincent, Renee Castle...can't say enough about the rest of the cast, but as it is, I'll only echo another reviewer and say, "JUST BUY IT, DARN IT!"
Free Music Review: One of the best! Hit: 4 Stars
The best next to the 1996 London Cast with Zubin Varla and Steve Balsamo. Although this soundtrack doesn't have all of the songs (most noticable are "This Jesus Must Die" and "Damned For All Time"), this is still worthy of the price. Glenn Carter's Jesus is pure excellence while Jerome Pardon's Judas is very whiny but convincing and priceless. Frederick Owens as Caiaphas is excellent although all of his major songs are not on this CD. :( Renee Castle is the best Mary Magdalene ever portrayed. Tony Vincent steals the shows though as Simon Zealotes, he is just too good. Buy or don't buy the soundtrack but make sure to get the new movie.
Free Music Review: Good Stuff Hit: 4 Stars
I don't see why JCS fans are always ragging on this version. I like it way better than the original recording. I can't picture anyone but Jerome Pradon as Judas. And that Renee Castle moves me to tears every time I listen to "I Don't Know How To Love Him." The cast is great! The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is that they left out "Blod Money" and "This Jesus Must Die". Those were two of the most important songs-what were they thinking?!
Free Music Review: Jesus... Hit: 4 Stars
I love this newest version of Jesus Christ Superstar. I may be young, but I do understand the value of a good musical. I have JCS (the original cast recording) on CD and vinyl. Neither are complete. Is it no wonder then that this new stage production is lacking songs by Judas, who is my favorite (is it wrong to say that?). CAN'T I JUST GET A JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR CD WITH EVERY SINGLE SONG FROM THE MUSICAL ON IT? WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?
Free Music Review: Best recording but why is it missing some songs? Hit: 4 Stars
This is definitely the best recording out there; but where are the songs like "This Jesus Must Die", "Damned For All Time/Blood Money", "The Arrest", "Peter's Denial" and "Pilate and Jesus'? Why aren't they on the cd. The actors did exceptionally well with them. I didn't even like some of the songs until this version and now they're not there. Does anyone know why??
