Free Music Notes for Jesus Christ Superstar (The New Stage Production Soundtrack)Free Music Review: Excellent Hit: 4 Stars
The cd is great. I am a HUGE JCS fan...only one problem with the cd. The amazingly talented Tony Vincent sings his role in the film, Simon on the cd, as opposed to his broadway role, Judas. Tony Vincent has an amazing voice (he is track 6 on the cd)...and I only wish he was Judas so I could hear him sing more! Other than that EXCELLENT CD. Glenn Carter as Jesus=Amazing!
Free Music Review: mostly good but.... Hit: 4 Stars
Despite what anyone says, Jerome Pradon's Judas is horrible. His singing is the most atrocious, awful thing I have heard in ages. The guy is not a trained vocalist, from what I hear on this disc. Very throaty, forced, pushed, and whiny. And if you've seen the DVD, his acting wasn't much better....
Free Music Review: Well Worth Your Money Hit: 4 Stars
Here is a version of JCS that actually sounds like they mean what they are saying. You can hear the emotions in the lyrics. I am sick of Ted Neeley and his "non acting" or "non emotional" vocals.
Free Music Review: Omissions unforgivable Hit: 4 Stars
Blood Money/Damned For All Time's omission from the soundtrack throws the whole progression off. And "Could We Start Again, Please?" just sucks.
Free Music Review: This is NO rock Opera Hit: 3 Stars
This recording Is NOT A ROCK OPERA , it sounds like a backstreetboys Superstar I Have some BIG complaints on the parts of Jesus Christ (peace be on him), Judas Iscariot, and Pontious Pilate.Glenn Carter (though he cant touch Ian Gillian ) is a listenable jesus but has little 'Jesus" emotion in his voice! (maby thats why the crowd shouts CRUCIFY HIM with soo much passion i agree with them ) he also has a weak falsetto. now dont you get me wrong, in the video Carters stage presence makes up for all vocal flaws. jEROME PRADON IS SO WHINEY WAAAAAA I CANT STAND HIM AS JUDAS HE SINGS THE ROLE NASAL, HE IS TOO OLD 2 HE LOOKS TO BE ABOUT 20 YEARS OLDER THAN THE REST OF THE CAST (SEE THE VIDEO) but he does put emotion in his voice , i think he would be better in a recording of cats , but like carter stage presence makes up for his tonedeafness. Fred Jhonson IS TERRIBLE as pilate she does not give the role the slighitist emotion at all he is also to high pilate needs to be a Baritone .. not a Tenor. But all other roles are GREAT especailly Mary (played by renne castle SHE IS AMAZING her 'i dont know how to love him' is astounding! so get the video, and if u want get the soundtrack of the video , but still i think that this one is not essential but a good recording nonetheless. one final word, this recording is INCOMPLETE they leave out many essential songs including a big chunk of judas's death. so i would recomed to get this if u want highlights if u want the complete score then get the video and the original concept album.
