This Was was the eptiome of progressive blues. Blodwyn Pig (obviously), Harvey Mandel and few others took this format to the extended realms that went beyond the imitative blues/rock that was so entrenched in the 1970's airwaves. After years of Tull listening and seeing them several times through Thick as a Brick, This Was is the ONLY Tull album that continues to be a refreshing listen.
