Free Music Review: Fantastic Double Concert!
Hit: 5 Stars

Well,...it's been a long time coming, but finally, Jill has put her fantastic live concert on DVD,...and, because we have waited for so long, she gives us two concerts for the low price of one! The first concert is in Paris, and it was recorded on her 2006 or 2007 tour (I've seen them all!), and is by far some of her best work. Jill and her driving band give us rousing renditions of most of her best work from her first two albums. This was a time where Jill was a little heavy, but she was obviously hopelessly in love with her longtime love - Lyzell (of which
she named one of her most popular songs after). Most of the songs are performed with the same arrangements as what we were accustomed to from the CDs. And, as if that was not enough for one's money, Jill also gives us a second concert from her most recent tour in which she has trimmed down to her "Why Did I Get Married"'s character's more svelt and sexy look, and she performs many of her new and more edgy songs, as well as alternate renditions of some of her older work. All Jill fans know that the past year or so has been a rough transition for Jill in her personal life. Evidently, her beloved Lyzell has messed up and betrayed their
relationship (which led to a subsequent divorce), and Jill's new music is more bitter, yet it is still ultimately empowering.

She LOOKS good, she SOUNDS good, and she has a newfound confidence and more dynamic diva presentation. For me, I prefer the first concert because of its familiarity and because it has less of an edge, but everyone will love and appreciate both offerings, and, like me, will play and re-play the concert repeatedly!! This is a MUST BUY!!!

Free Music Review: Jill Scott -Live in Paris
Hit: 3 Stars

Jill is consistent in her delivery of songs from both Volume II and Volume III, for the uninitiated listener, i.e. albums -Beautifully Human and
the Real Thing. This live album only confirms that she is the "Real thing"

Free Music Review: Nothing Like the Real Thing (But this will do!)
Hit: 5 Stars

I try to live my life without too many regrets. However, I absolutely regret missing Jill in Chicago yesterday. I've been to her show before and I know how amazing she is on stage. This DVD does not disappoint. No, it's not like being there--but I still found myself enthralled by her performance and her ability to connect with her audience. If you like Jill, you'll love this CD. If you love Jill, you gotta' have it!

Free Music Review: Jilly From Philly Represents Real Soul Music Once Again
Hit: 4 Stars

Many believe that true soul music is where it's at, not the trendy, borderline Pop that gets labeled as R&B just because of the artist's skin color or subject matter. Jill Scott has never purported to be some high and mighty songstress that can sing anybody under the table, but she surely can. And when you listen (and watch) Live In Paris+, you will undoubtedly see that she is truly like no other. Fresh off the release of her latest studio album The Real Thing: Words And Sounds Vol. 3, Jill blesses us with yet another live album (the first being Disc 1 of the Experience: Jill Scott 826+ album) but this time from Paris, France. The songs are all familiar, but the delivery of each selection is exquisite to say the least. Songs on the cd include The Way, Whatever, The Fact Is (I Need You), Golden, My Petition, Rasool, Bedda At Home, and He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat). The DVD includes performances for all these songs as well as 4 additional live performances from the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Believe me when I say that Live in Paris+ is worth every penny. You already know that Jill has the chops and her band Fat Back Taffy are stellar at all times. If you've never seen her perform live, you might as well start with Live In Paris+.
