Free Music Review: Jill Scott
Hit: 5 Stars

Jill's album does not disappoint! If she is ever in your town for a performance- be sure to attend! She is awesome!

Free Music Review: Jill Scott continues to be the "Bomb"
Hit: 4 Stars

Jill Scott is th best neosoul artist around. Point blank. At first listen I felt that it was not as good as her first album, but now it has been in constant rotation for the last 2 weeks. This honest brazen, thought provoking sense of style that she has is incomparable. She is in a class of her own. This cd is great. I rank all 3 of her albums as
#1 Who is Jill scott
#2 The Real Thing
#3 Beautifully Human
I rated the abulm a 4 because I felt that it had too many short interlude tracks on it. My favorite songs here are as follows:

My Love -- sends chills down your spine and she channels Billie Holliday in this one.

When Your Around-- great groove while shes telling her man that things have definately changed for the worst.

ALL I-- no games lets get down to the business of making love.
Want to be loved -- great beat
Only YoU-- mellow laid back
Come See me-- passion and desire baby!
Crown Royal-- sexy
Epiphany-- handling the business

Hit: 5 Stars

After a brutal divorce and what some will think of as a new attitude, poet and singer Jill Scott returns with The Real Thing: Words & Sounds, Vol.3. Let me start by saying that it is quite different from the previous albums she has done throughout her career.
The Real Thing is certainly the most mature and erotically motivated record she has ever made. With this album, Scott takes you on an emotional journey of the peaks and lows of relationships.
With its first single, "Hate on Me", Scott reminds people that she is just human and questions the press on why they neglect her as a person. It has a very funky production, with an aggressive beat.
Another outstanding track, "Come See Me", has a very jazzy arrangement with Scott's powerful and sweet vocals.
"My Love" has Jill asking her husband why he would settle for something less, when he knows he was dealing with the real thing when he was with her.
One of the more enlightening tracks here would have to be "Whenever You're Around", which is a mid-tempo, feel good track that has Jill describing a friend that makes her happy, but she is really lonely deep inside.
"Only You" is one of the simpler songs on this album, but it has a reggae flavor that you will love. "Insomnia" is a nice mid-tempo track that has Jill in a situation where she is waiting for her then husband to come home and she isn't able to sleep because she is waiting for him.
Overall, The Real Thing gets my pick for one of the best R&B albums released this year. It is a very honest and well-rounded CD that moves your body and soul.
No, it isn't better than Who Is Jill Scott from 2001 and Beautifully Human from 2004, but it is more introspective than those two great albums. I believe Jill has a third winner on her hands with this album. Check it out!

Free Music Review: This woman is "GOLDEN"
Hit: 4 Stars

Jill Scott never disappoints! Based on her lyrics and her demeanor, one can imply that she is a woman of intelligence and dignity; that dignity always reflects in her lyrics. "The Real Thing" is a very honest LP. Jill really does a lot of unique things with her vocal instrument and I really respect her for doing that. I appreciate her innovation. This album has a couple of up-tempo tracks, but it's mostly inundated with ballads and slower numbers. As a unit, this is a very solid album and easy to enjoy. In short, this is the "real thing", and "ain't nothing like the real thing baby!"

"Hate on Me" was the first track released to radio and music listeners ate it up! They loved this track and it received a great amount of air play. It took a few listens to really draw my attention, but now I eat it up like mostly everyone else! The way her voice and the beat intertwine is magnificent brilliance! The song is about people disliking you no matter how you act or what you do for them. "Crown Royal" stirred up lots of positive controversy. This song was on so many MySpace pages that it's not even funny. The sexual undertones are some of the most creative I have heard in some time. Also, the melody is sheer perfection! This track is worth the price of the album! "How It Make You Feel" and "Only You" are also solid tracks, though weaker if comparing with the rest of the album. "Wanna Be Loved" is one of the highlights because Jill's delivery is great as are the production and lyrics. I really enjoyed this and even added it to my iPod.

If you take a chance and listen to this album, you will not be disappointed. R&B fans will have this CD in their decks for a very long time. 4 shining stars for Jilly from Philly.
