Free Music Review: The best Words and Sounds
Hit: 5 Stars

Jill Scott's cd is the best cd that I have! Her voice is beautiful and her her songs relates to whatever point you are in your life. It has made me smile through the worst times. I have bought the cd twice, because I wore me first one out...It's the best cd money can buy.

Free Music Review: it gets better every time
Hit: 5 Stars

I got this album when it came out, but only listened to the 'popular tracks'. 4 years later, I am a little more mature, and I have to say that this CD is flawless. I've grown into Its Love, Love Rain, and Slowly Surely. I guess you never really appreciate the lyrics of a masterpiece until you can relate to them. The experience and insight of Jill Scott are infinite and is reflected in the depth of this CD. 10/10.

Free Music Review: the Supreme Goddess of Love ...
Hit: 5 Stars

This recording is in my top ten list. I never tire of it -- I can listen to it forever. Miss Jill Scott is the poet of love l o v e LOVE dreamy intoxicating love and every song has a flavor that is unique while consistent. She captures the dreaminess EVERY TIME w/ precision and clarity.

Some may find it difficult to differentiate one song from another and I too have been guilty of mixing up "Love Rain" and "Its Love" when replaying them in my head ... and my best explanation for this is that the entire album, all songs together MESH PERFECTLY and the message is the same. A seamless novel about love and life in which no one chapter can be eliminated. They must all be heard!

The lyrics are the best ever -- symbolic and w/ purity and succinctness to capture EXACTLY the sentiment. Like "let's take a long walk ..." capturing perfectly the deep drowning letting go as you fall into the abyss of love via an otherwise seemingly trite phrase. This is her brilliance. There is nothing pretentious in her vision because she can take the ordinary and transpose it into genius.

"Building sandcastles in the Serengheti" is a pristine example of a phrase that is simple yet captures the grandness. Then add to this the WAY she enunciates and punctuates each and every syllable. The phrases that one simply cannot ever forget because they become a mantra day in day out, some soft as rain and others, "wildly s t a c c a t o".

Jill Scott's emoting is as good as it gets. No one does it better. No one! She is also intensely knowing -- if you are not wanting to belt out each word of every line, you are missing it. One can simply FEEL the experience she relates. You've either been there and lived it or you can transport yourself there.

Every girl in the world should keep "One is the Magic Number" as her anthem. And every woman in the world should remember "Slowly Surely" so that she never ever gives up on love.

Jill Scott is in one moment the innocent child whispering and breathless or the savvy sultry diva as powerful as Diane Schurr or Aretha or Shemekia Copeland ... she is a bedroom vixen, a wide-eyed young girl savoring the magic of the world, or an observer in the city -- no matter what this woman expresses, it is a sweet sincere exquisite confection.
