Free Music Notes for Diabolical StreakFree Music Review: While away an hour. Hit: 5 Stars
I found out about Jill Tracy while trying to find some new music to listen to. After listening to a few of her songs I was able to find online, I bought the album. I was not disappointed.
Jill Tracy has a voice like smoke in a San Francisco bar; a reminder of a different era. Her piano work is the perfect companion, and the "Malcontents" help complete the wonderful feel of the album.
If that doesn't do it for you, the lyrics will. Murder, poisoning, and mayhem, all rolled into one package, with a little bit of love on the side. If you liked "Murder Ballads" (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), try this on for size. If you're a fan of noir films and books, ditto.
Free Music Review: Elegant, Enigmatic and Ethereal Hit: 5 Stars
Jill Tracy's CD Diabolical Streak has filled an empty space in my music collection and my soul. For the receptive spirit, this rich album casts a spell as deep and pathos-full as the surface is shimmery and cool, with a gleam in it's eye and flickering tongue in it's cheek. No doubt, this level of subtlety and sophistication will be lost on many a quick-fix junkie in this era of fast-food and strip malls. But for those who hearken to a place where opium dreams unfold as you lie for hours in the den, sugar water drips in absinthe, and poison takes it's sweet, sweet time, Diabolical Streak is rare a find. I'm addicted.

Having never heard Jill Tracy before, but loving darker music, I listened attentively to samples of Diabolical Streak. I was immediately hooked. I bought the CD and am EXTREMELY pleased! Ms. Tracy's music doesn't pull any punches or hide behind gimmicky noodling; the quality and talent you hear going in is what you hear coming out. Diabolical Streak is a sublime, unique work guaranteed to speak to those who prefer their sonic candy a little more on the mature shadowy side.
Free Music Review: sensationally sultry Hit: 5 Stars
I can't stop listening to this CD. Jill's voice is so sensual, rich, and mesmerizing, and the mixture of piano, violin, and occasional drumbeat is just so perfect for creating a darkly delightful mood. The lyrics are Edward Gorey meets Dark Cabaret--elegant and witty, not overdone, with a dash of irony and whimsy. Favorites are: "Evil Night Together", "Fine Art of Poisoning", "The Proof" and the others are getting stuck in my head as well...in a deliciously dark way.
Free Music Review: completely unique! Hit: 5 Stars
Jill Tracy is one of the few truly original artists out there today. She's carved a niche that's sadly missing in modern music...a need for elegance, intelligence, and superb mastery of the craft of composition and execution...no need for trendy gimmicks or electronic safety nets, "Diabolical Streak" is timeless in its orchestral arrangements, conjuring up dark and decadent moods from the past life you wish you will still living.
