Free Music Notes for My Romance: An Evening With Jim BrickmanFree Music Review: Great Guest Singers Hit: 4 Stars
The celebrity guest singers really make this album. Olivia Newton-John sings Valentine better than anyone else Jim has ever worked with. I have been listening to this album now more than Destiny.
Free Music Review: A pleasure to own it Hit: 4 Stars
Jim Brickman CD always give us a great feel about how to express our feeling toward the other, I love it.
Free Music Review: A relative "ok" Hit: 3 Stars
Just had a listen to this live in concert CD by Jim Brickman... Brief: If you've never heard Jim's work before then you're in for a treat as this is a relative "best of" album albeit live (some prefer, some not...I prefer studio performances in general). If you own Jim's other CDs like I do, unless a live performance is a big value add, I'd have just as well skipped buying this CD and will be selling mine on.... Details: Jim's piano is superb as ever. Jim takes to the microphone in "The Love I Found in You" and while he can carry a tune, I think he's better served by guest vocalists in general. Speaking of which, while I like Olivia Newton-John generally, her performances here for me either lacked the depth of emotion or perhaps were over-wrought...hmmmm. By contrast, "Valentine," sung by Martina McBride on the album "Picture This" left me in rapture... By Heart as performed by Anne Cochran was enjoyable enough although yet just not in the same league when compared with version in the original title track by Laura Creamer. breath-taking. Love of My Life with Donny Osmond is the vocal gem on this album with Donny reaching down to give a really good performance. Summary: If you're new to Jim Brickman and enjoy live best-of albums, My Romance will provide an enjoyable introduction to the artist. But for my money, I'd go with the originals: By Heart, and Picture This, and if you already have them and aren't deeply attractived to a "Live" recorded performance, I'd skip it and wait for Jim's next.
Free Music Review: live performance of songs you already have Hit: 3 Stars
I've collected Mr. Brickman's albums but was disappointed in this live performance album. I like listening to his music but this is just a replay of his other work with the guest singers taking the place of the original artists, the difference is that Brickman himself sings on a couple of tunes. If you've got to have all that he's put out buy it, if you're on a budget leave it.
Free Music Review: It's very bad Hit: 2 Stars
The MC bothers me. In addition, the most of singers were not original and they sang awful. Don't buy this CD, but the original one.
