I am currently a chorus member in my school's annual spring musical, which just happens to be Grease. This album is so much fun and so helpful with learning the dances.
Individual Songs:
Alma Mater/Parody: Okay, so the first version's boring, but it IS an Alma Mater. The parody, on the other hand, is such fun. Even if I'm not in it, I know the whoel song and dance!
Summer Nights: This is the one song that defines Grease for most people. It's an okay song, but the chorus has problems staying interested in our part. After, all we do is repeat "Tell me more, tell me more" over and over.
Those Magic Changes: I love this song! I'd never heard before the school musical, and this song is my ultimate favortie. What's that playing on the radio?
Freddy, My Love: It's fun song to lsiten to and watch, but not to perform.
Greased Lightnin': Okay, okay, so the female chorus isn't in this. I'm patheti, I know. Considering I've memorized the song and dance even though there is no possible way I'll be in this scene...It gives you an idea of ow fun it is.
Mooning: "There's a full moon out tonight!" Cute song, fun to watch from backstage.
Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee: VERY fun song! Quite interesting lyrics.
We Go Together: Okay, so after hearing it six million times I'm sick of it, but I love it. You try typing the lyrics to this song! it's near impossible to spell "Ramma-lamma-lamma, kadingedy ding-a-dong" correctly.
It's Raining On Prom Night: This is not a song I prefer, but then that may be because of who portrays the Cha Twins in our play.
Born To Hand Jive: Zuko! The most energetic song ever! If you want to learn a dance from the musical, this is the one I suggest. Anyone can Hand Jive!
Beauty School Drop Out: So having the school dean of students sing this might not hsve been the brightest idea, because even he cannot compare to the majority of the viewers idea of this song.. Everyone loves Frankie Avalon?
Alone At A Drive In Movie: Quite hard to sit onstage and ignore our lil' Zukster sing this. Very emotional song, much better than the movie's "Sandy."
Rock and Roll Party Queen: I LOVE this song. The two guys wh osang this song were awesome! If you've never heard this song, you're missing out!
There Are Worse Things I Could Do: A nice little song for Rizzo to reveal her softer side. I'm glad I got to sneak offstage just before this song, so I could dance to it backstage!
Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee (Reprise): Um..Slightly redundant, but not bad overall.
All Choked Up: I originally didn't like this song becuase it wasn't "You're The One That I Want" (that song is special to me for personal reasons) But it grew on me. By the first performance, I loved it.
We Go Together (reprise): A very confused chorus danced bakcstage to this song. Once is enough for this song.
Personally, I love this album. The only song it doesn't have is "Since I Don't Have You". (very fitting, no?) That song is SO much better than "Hoplessly Devoted To You".
