Free Music Review: As good as a "best hits" will get on one cd

First off, i am a 14 year old who has been playing guitar for hte past 3 months and lsitening to hendrix for around yes u guessed it: 3 monthsthe man is simply amazing, not just his technical ability his energy soul and versatility and obviously his virtuosity.
I have read all that i can about Hendrix and heard just about all of his published work and many of his live preformances, and i have to say this is a mighty collection, although i would have liked to see "Spanish Castle Magic" (and i ecnourage every hendrix fan to listen to his live version of it at the Isle of Wight, its great.) Also i would have liked to see "Gypsy Eyes" here (from First Rays of hte New Rising Sun), but thats cuz i like funk and its a rather funky tune.
This CD satisfies those who enjoy hendrix as a rock icon but also those who love his lyrics and soul like me, but of course his early songs are always fun to listen to, especially Voodoo Child (Slight Return) i have yet to hear a song similar to it.
My personal favorite is "All Along hte Watchtower", "Room Full of Mirrors", or "Foxey Lady"

Free Music Review: If Only All 60s Rock Were This Cool

Fortunately I happened to find this CD at my favorite record store for a good deal a couple weeks ago. I didn't grow up listening to Jimi Hendrix -- I was born seven years after he died -- but it's hard not to like this guy's music. Wasn't he basically the creator of the guitar solo? I mean, this guy's contributions to rock and roll are so seminal that to say you don't like him is basically to say you don't like rock music.
All the songs I think of when I think of Jimi are on this CD: Purple Haze, Fire, Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary, The Star Spangled Banner, you name it, it's on here. I am sure there are much more knowledgeable people who will have a bone to pick about the track listing, but for the average person who just likes Jimi's stuff and wants to get all of the well-known songs in one place, look no further.
I bought this CD for the above tracks but now I have a new favorite: Castles Made of Sand. I still don't totally know what this song is about, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. It is melancholy, relaxed, and funny all at the same time.
Five stars for a CD I should have bought a long time ago.

This is truly a fantastic and mind boggling album, chronicling each part of young Jimi Hendrix's blossoming career up until his untimely 1970 death. Every single track is a gem, with fantastic guitar ax work and mind boggling lyrics, sometimes sad, sometimes chilling, and always descriptive and truthful.In my opinion, the blossoming Hendrix fan cannot go wrong with this album. Each of the twenty tracks was well selected, and each represent different parts of his career. It is truly great, but it doesn't do Jimi complete justice. Live was where Jimi was at his best, as shown by the albums "Live At Woodstock" and "Live at the Fillmore East." I'd recommend picking up both this and a live album.
The finest songs on the collection are Jimi classics "Purple Haze," "Voodoo Child," and "Wind Cries Mary," in addition to not so well known tracks like "Angel", and "Night Bird Flying."
If you are new to the world of Jimi and don't know which album to pick up, I advise you to get this record, and get a good overview of the man's entire career.

music to ever come out. So many great songs here!! We have
Purple Haze which is one of his best ever.

Somebody please give that lil' boy (jimi's good?) a slap, he said Yngwie better than Hendrix, that dude just play sweep picking from " here to there " on every record he made and don't be fool the other dude that play fast, coz they only running down the scale without no taste, with a little talent you can learn it within two weeks, i told you, jimi maybe not the fastest, but he is the one who set the foundation, a lot of guitarist before hendrix thinks hey i can do that, but they never do because like million others guitarist thay are just followers, The Mighty HendRix is the revolutioner, that's why he is the GOD, he set and create, even Yngwie is a big fan of Hendrix,don't you read the sleeve of his album, and check his guitar too, stratocaster model which similar with Hendrix.
beside if the greatness of a musician set by how fast he can play the instruments, than the great singer is a rap singer, no matter how suck he is. And now about the album you're lucky if you can find the special edition of this album because it twice much of Hendrix.
