Free Music Notes for A1aFree Music Review: This is the quintessential Buffett Record Hit: 5 Stars
I have bought (and subsequently lost, broke, or Lord knows what) many Buffett records, but the only one I keep in my collection through it all is this one. Here is Buffett the southern boy with a knack for country western songs who wandered too far south in Florida one day as a young man, discovered rum, sand, sun, boats, and women (in some mixed up order) and ...Buffett has had some low points, some commercial points, some high points, but on this record we find Buffett the 20-something singer-songwriter at his best: one foot in Alabama, one foot on a caribean island... sometimes nostalgic, sometimes wild and crazy, but sincere through it all.
Free Music Review: THE BEST ALBUM EVER RECORDED BY ANYBODY! Hit: 5 Stars
If you consider yourself a "Parrot Head," you will probably find Jimmy's pre "Son of a Sailor" albums too "country." They feature steel guitars instead of steel drums. But for Buffett purists, these records, made before Jimmy became a cliche, represent his best music. Each of these albums: White Sportcoat, Living and Dying, AIA, Havana Daydreamin', and Changes in Latitude are must owns. The centerpiece is A1A, which is as inspirational as it is entertaining. So forget about "Off to See the Lizard" and buy this album plus the other four.
Free Music Review: Great CD, I think its his best of the 70's Hit: 5 Stars
A1A is my personal favorite album of buffett in the 70's. I split his albums into the three decades he has recorded in and this one just might even be his best album ever. Door No. 3, Migration, Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season, A Pirate Looks At 40, and Tin Cup Chalice are songs that will take you away to key west while you are sitting in your living room chair. Its very easy to listen to and its not one of those where you only like a few songs, this one you just pop it in and listen to it for hours, if you are a ParrotHead and don't have this album, GET IT!!!!
Free Music Review: Greatest Buffet Album Ever? Hit: 5 Stars
I first got this album from my fathers old record collection. I had heard the Jack Johnson cover of A pirate looks at 40, and had wanted to hear the original. Once i got listening to the record i coundnt stop. personally i think side B of the original vinyl is the greatest side ever cut. surprisingly i seem to be one of the few ppl who actually likes the song "Trying to reason with hurricane season" its probably the greatest hangover/quiet reflective song of all time. This is a great album from a truley great artist.
Free Music Review: It's a Key West groove Hit: 5 Stars
This album takes you right down there to Key West, and gives you a pretty good insight into what life was like there back in the early 70's. I rank it right up there in Buffett's top 3 or 4, but not the absolute best. But this is definitely Jimmy before the hype, books, plays, and peripheral items besides the music. If you ever get a chance to make the drive from Miami to Key West in a convertible, make sure you have this CD with you. And after all, aren't we all "makin' Music for Money'? Jerry Diaz, ...
