Free Music Review: Buffetts greatest summer cd of the 90's (the only really)
Hit: 5 Stars

Lets face parrotheads some of buffetts cd's in the 90's weren't very caribbean-summer style music. This cd did it all, this is the greatest cd to listen to when your on a boat sittin in the sun and gettin wasted. Whenever i go up to my cottage by lake Michigan for summer to start the whole summer i listen to this cd every summer on the way up to the cottage. Starting with Barometer soup to James Taylor cover of Mexico this cd is beautiful. Just listen to The Night I Painted The Sky on the 4th of July it could make you cry. Every song is just perfect if you are just getting into buffett or your a parrothead i advice you buy this cd! Everytime you listen this cd its summer all over again.

Free Music Review: What happened when Jimmy remembered who he used to be.
Hit: 5 Stars

Before Margaritaville Cafe and Joe Merchant books and stage musicals, Jimmy Buffett was a beach bum putting out music about the joie de vive he always had. These are the songs of the beach bum grown up. Songs like "Blue Heaven Rendezvous," "Remittance Man," and "Bank of Bad Habits" are by a man coming to terms with his own mortality while refusing to let go of life. Others like "Barometer Soup" and "Barefoot Children" are a call to the world to join in the fun. He also writes like a child fascinated with the world around him on songs such as "Jimmy Dreams" and "The Night I Painted the Sky." Be sure not to miss his cover of James Taylor's "Mexico."

Free Music Review: beautiful, sincere, playful, haunting, soothing...PERFECT
Hit: 5 Stars

Jimmy once wrote that a great song is more than just words and music. "It is like a thumb pressing against the pulse of life that relates a simple truth about a very complicated process." I think the same can be said for this entire album.

Inexplicably, Buffett allows you to drift across the Caribbean with him while his music strikes those mysterious chords at the very core of your soul.

Beautifully written and richly orchestrated, this recording is well-deserving of a place among greatest of all time. Thanks Jimmy.

Free Music Review: Perfect Parrothead Pleasure
Hit: 5 Stars

Jimmy does it again! If relaxation is your credo, then is is truly an album to mellow out to. The arrangements are perfectly done, and JB's lyrical rhyming is again without peer. Of particular note is "Remittance Man", one of my favorite ballads that he's EVER written, as well as "The Night I Painted The Sky", a lovely rememberance written with the wild-eyed innocence of a childs eye. The only down note is "Blue Heaven Rendezvous", a syrupy slow song that invokes his "Somewhere Over China" flop.

Free Music Review: My first Buffett CD and still my favorite
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the first Buffett CD I bought and it is still my favorite. I remember listening to this one in the summer of 1995, during which I spent probably too much time on Spanish Banks. It set the mood perfectly, and was always on the player during the afternoon sailing jaunts. If these sorts of things appeal to you, this one should form the basis of your collection. Alternatively, Far Side of the World probably ranks close to Soup in overall quality, and is a little more sophisticated in the range of music.
