Free Music Notes for Don't Stop The Carnival [ENHANCED CD]Free Music Review: If You've Ever Been to Carnival, This Will Take You Back!! Hit: 5 Stars
I've been to the Virgin Islands, and reading the book (well, I have to admit I sneaked a listen first to the CD, no matter what I was told to do) took me back to a case of Island Fever. I don't care if you read the book first or listen to the CD, just do it! Then hop a plane for the BVI and Beef Island. Just be careful you don't buy the hotel there. But whatever you do, you'll be singing all the tunes on this delightful CD (just remember how the story goes)! I love this CD even better than my most favorite "Fruitcakes".
Free Music Review: If you have an imagination and LOVE Buffett, this is it! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is awesome. I had no idea what to expect. I listened to the cd many times before I read the linear notes completely, so I didn't have the benefit of understanding the story. READ the notes. It puts everything into place for the listener. Then, go get the book. After reading the book I discovered Jimmy Buffett was much more talented than I imagined. Jimmy has a way of being able to take us places, but this album, with its great story and the way he wrote the songs is simply amazing.
Free Music Review: Love It! Hit: 5 Stars
Herman Wouk and Buffett collaborated on a musical which, from what I have heard, may not have been seen by a broad audience. Unfortunately, I never saw the musical but have been playing the album for years, over and over. I live part of the year on a Caribbean island much like Kinga, and so give a copy of Wouk's novel of the same name and a CD of the musical to friends who are coming to the Caribbean for the first time. The lyrics and scores of the songs tell the story most visually!
Free Music Review: How does he do it? Hit: 5 Stars
Best Jimmy Buffett in years! Completely different than anything that he's done before. I could actually smell the salt water in the air as the CD played. You are transported to a mythical island and are treated to a wonderful music score of Jimmy's rendition of DSTC. The beauty of this CD lies in Jimmy sharing the vocals with some great studio musicians. It reminds me of Pete Townsend's Ironman musical, great songs, great musicians, and a great story!
Free Music Review: There isn't a word in the dictionary to describe it! Hit: 5 Stars
This is, without a doubt, Jimmy's best album. After listening only once, I had all the songs memerized and was annoying my friends with my interpretations of the songs (I, unlike anyone in the cast, have a horrible voice). Because Jimmy and the cast portrayed the story with such emotion and reality, I knew the entire story just by listening to the cd. I am excited to see it on stage when it comes up North (is it?). A great all around album.
