Free Music Review: A different Buffett from a different point of view
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a diehard Buffett fan (some may call me a Parrothead) at least since 1975. I love Buffett's old music. HOWEVER, I do think this new Buffett album is the best he's put out in a long time too. I didn't like Banana Wind very much when it first came out, though it's grown on me over a few years. Far Side of the World has more of the Barometer Soup flavors with a little cajun mashed in. Some of these songs are very country, with my favorite being "Savannah Fare Thee Well" (I almost hear a hint of goodbye wishes to his daughter in this one). The Hokey Pokey song is probably the goofiest song I've heard for a long time - almost sounds like time filler.

Other than that, this is a fabulous Buffett album, and worthy of your purchase... if you don't know Buffett, this is a good start, and if you are a Parrothead... well, what are you waiting for!

Free Music Review: 73 year old Parrothead likes this new Bubba
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm an old Parrothead, but I'm not dead.

I love this new CD, because it shows an older, wiser Bubba.

Fans of his earlier work are going to hate cut 3, but I love it. Jazzy, cool, and sly. I'm not as impressed with "Savannah, Fare You Well" but I do love "Tonight I Just Need My Guitar".

I think it has to do with where you are in your life. TIJNMG suits me at my age. Bubba shows us he knows how lucky he is. I'm lucky, too, and I think the song is as near to perfect as it gets.

I also really like "What If the Hokey Pokey is Really What It's all About", a tune most loyal fans detest.

I'm not a purist, so I like the direction Bubba's gone with this CD. I hope he continues to grow and stretch his musical wings.

Go, Bubba. I'll follow where ever you lead.

Free Music Review: Reflections on life from Africa
Hit: 5 Stars

Jimmy has made a great album. I really missed the Caribbean sound on first listen, but not so much after that. It is still there, only not in every song. While going a safari, Jimmy came up with some wonderful ideas for songs. The other song writers must have known Jimmy was going to make this album by ESP because even though they were written years before, they fit perfectly. Standout tracks are the title cut, "Mademoiselle", the fresh sounding "Autour Du Rocher", "Someday I Will" and "U.S.S. Zydecoldsmobile". The best track here (and one of Jimmy's best ever) is "Savannah Fare You Well". As you are listening, be sure to read the preface Jimmy has written. It is a great tale of growing up and growing into the person he is.

Free Music Review: Parrotheads Rejoice
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very soul-listic, relaxing CD. A flashback to his non-commercial music that has endeared the Parrotheads for many years. For the fans of drinking Margaritas and partying all night, maybe not the best CD to load on the disc tray, but for Parrotheads (maybe I am just speaking for myself) it is reminiscence of "Living and Dying", "Somewhere Over China", "Volcano","Changes", and other early pre-"Fruitcakes" CDs. A bit mellow, but still packs the punch of the Caribbean sound that we have all grown to love and count upon to allow us to escape to our own little paradise....whether it be Margaritaville, a Beach House on the Moon, or The Far Side of the World. Another masterpiece from the storyteller...Thanks JB.

Free Music Review: Buffett doesn't disappoint!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

After waiting anxiously since October 23rd, for this album to be released, I must say that the wait was well worth it. From start to finish, Buffett allows the listener to visit everywhere from California to Africa. The title track, "Far Side of the World" has the listener wanting to pack their bags and visit the places that Jimmy has been fortunate enough to visit and sing about. As an added bonus, the C.D. is enhanced for the computer. Besides the songs, owners of the disc can also see the video for the title track. I wouldn't recommend this C.D. for "new" Buffett fans, there is way to much old stuff to listen to first. For the Parrott Head, the C.D. is a must. Thanks Jimmy!!!!
