In recent years getting a new Jimmy Buffett album was an adventure in guessing which Jimmy would show this time.The playful Jimmy["USS Zydecoldsmobile"] or the mornful Jimmy ["All the Ways I Want You"] or the thoughtful Jimmy["Last Man Standing"]..well with this one you get them all.Soulful ballads,rocking Zydeco,and you even get to the Hokey style!!! ["What if the Hokey Pokey is all it really is about?"]There are so many standouts on this album but the title cut "Far Side of the World" is the center track..and check out the video on your computer....lyric and travelogue intertwined together.I will be playing this one for a long time to come .

I have listened to this CD multiple times now, and it just gets more enjoyable each time around. Jimmy has really done some great work this time around. I feel this is his best CD since Barometer Soup, and may even be better once I get to know the album a little better. Musically it is very strong and has great variety. Vocals and instramnets are good and the production is outstanding. "Far Side of the World" and "Someday I Will" are instant classics, and many others will become familiar with all Parrotheads once they listen to this great CD. Thanks Jimmy.........it's been 3 years since your last CD but this was well worth the wait!Free Music Review: "Beach House on the Moon, Part II"

It's got the feel of his 1999 album in some aspects, but there are some darn good songs on this CD. "Blue Guitar" starts out with some "African-style" chants. Only downside of that is that it's just a bunch of "Heya Heya". If you want African chants, then "The Power of One" soundtrack is for you. But it's still a good song.The title song "Far Side of the World" is definately the best of this CD. It just.. "oozes Jimmy". It's just Buffett at his best.
All the songs are a good mix of what a reviewer mentioned earlier. It's also a good "travel CD".

Far Side of the World is a wonderful CD. I picked it up yesterday after school and put it in the cd player and fell in love. USS Zydecoldsmobile is a good cover and a good song. The only song that I personally didn't really care much for was song number 2 i believe... or 3. whatever one it was the only reason i didn't really like it was because it had a long story to it, which if you wanted just music, you would have to live through about 3 minutes of the story before the song came on. however the song was a really good song. Fearing a return of Jimmy's country boy roots like on the recent Beach House on the Moon album, I was worried this album would feature the same style. I am extremely pleased however with this album, it mixes a lot of the best attributes of Jimmy's songs in a style simmilar to the best parts of Bannana Wind, Fruitcakes, and Barrometer Soup albums, and also features a few songs with Jimmy's trademark narations. The lyrics are as inspiring as any other of Jimmy's works. This albumn has a crisp guitar sound, and will truly take you on a trip around the world as you can hear the influences of foreign lands in the different songs.
